I keep noticing on Four Weddings, that most brides are serving dessert and wedding cake at there reception. Is two desserts really necessary? What did you do or are you going to do? I keep noticing on Four Weddings, that most brides are serving dessert and wedding cake at there reception. Is two desserts really necessary? What did you do or are you going to do?

In the south, we do both Wedding Cake (traditionally something other than Chocolate) and Grooms Cake (traditionally chocolate). I am not planning on adding an additional dessert after dinner is served.

We will be having a wedding cake, chocolate chip & sugar cookies and a candy bar. Can't wait!

What they are doing is the Viennese hour, its traditional in different regions and due to budgets being like 4 times what a normal bride can afford lol.

Not required.

I am doing cupcakes instead of cakes and a candy buffet as my favor to the guests, the end

@Jennifer G.: My sister used the same cake company and did the same thing, it went over so well a traditional cake was never in my mind. There was seriously something for everyone. And I just want pie. Lol.

Outside of the fantasy world that tv and Pinterest both create, most people just pick one or the other. If you're having a dessert only reception, then people tend to see additional dessert options. But after dinner, I would be worried about all those sweets going to waste and they don't mix well with alcohol.
