Destin or Sanibel Island?

I have been to both, and Sanibel is by far the best. I am also partial to Sanibel as that is where I got engaged. There are so many things to do! The ding darling nature preserve is gorgeous, and the beaches are some of Florida's most beautiful. You can also head over to Captiva Island quite easily. Are you looking for more active things to do, or more of a chill out at the resort with cocktails kind of vibe?

Not a fan of Destin. At the wrong time, it has a very college/spring-break-y feeling.

I guess I should add that it will be in November when we go!

Anna, there are so many water sports rentals in Sanibel, and there are bike rentals all over the island. I agree with T-Rex that Destin has an extremely "spring break-y" feel to it. Depending on your budget, you can rent condos or private homes, or there are several beautiful resorts. You MUST have breakfast at the Lighthouse!! Best breakfast on the island lol.

Sanibel! I grew up in Pensacola and Destin is either relaxing or chaotic - never in between. I wouldn't consider it a very intimate, romantic place.
