Updated!

Hello everyone !

Some of my bridal party members have reached out to me about cities I prefer for my bachelorette party. It seems like they are split on a vote and wanted my input.

It seemed like the main debate was New Orleans vs Napa California. However, other cities like Nashville, Charlotte, and Austin have been thrown around as well.

I honestly don't know. I've told them whatever is cheaper or for them to surprise me. However, if anyone here has attended bachelorette (or bachelor) parties at any of these cities (or others you recommend), I'd love to hear your experiences.

What would you all suggest ?

Thanks !

ETA: !!!! I'm an idiot and wrote charlotte instead of Charleston. Charleston is definitely what I meant. (I do that a lot. Sorryyyyy)

I'm going to NOLA for a bachelorette Memorial Day weekend. We are flying spirit from cleveland and it was just under 300 for round trip. We are doing an airbnb and it's pretty reasonable. This will be my first time here

Southerner here. Having been to each of these cities multiple times, I say that if you and your crowd enjoy drinking/dancing/music and crowds, New Orleans is hand down the most fun and it has a bar for everyone. Nashville is a close second but be warned it gets VERY packed with young, rowdy SEC grads at night. Idk your age or tastes but if your girls are a little older than that you def wanna go New Orleans. Austin and Charlotte are great cities (we are originally from Austin), but they are more low-key. If you love to mill around shopping, going to breweries and maybe hiking/art galleries then those are your cities. Still fun, but not the action packed party-animal vibe from NOLA and Nashville. Also, there's amazing food in every city, so don't worry about that! ETA maybe I am just a garbage person with a really high threshold for filth and grime, but I've never noticed New Orleans to be that much filthier than any other large city going through a rough weekend. Except during Mardi Gras, hoo boy. Still worth it tho!

I've been to NOLA once and wasn't a huge fan, but I didn't get to see much of it. It smelled like vodka and vomit and was super muggy. Again, I wasn't there long so I didn't get to experience much. It was also July so that probably didn't help.

Honestly, Seattle is a super cool city if you're looking to leave the east coast. Not super expensive to fly to, and cheaper to stay than some big cities. Very different from the east coast. A friend of mine lives there, and we had a blast exploring the city.

San Francisco is great but it's expensive. Probably comparable to Napa.

Charlotte is a fabulous city in NC. The downtown area actually reminds me of a much more lowkey Vegas. There are lots of lights haha. I'm from the Raleigh area, and the party atmosphere of Charlotte blows Raleigh's out of the water.

Have you thought of NYC? Flights are SUPER cheap through Jetblue and you can get an air bnb or a hotel on expedia. My roommate and I went for 4 days over spring break and spent a little over a thousand for 2 plane tickets, and a 4 star hotel for four nights. There are so many things to do it honestly blew my mind.

ETA: We probably won't do a destination bachelorette party. I'm thinking a lowkey dinner in Raleigh with drinks after, and a nice hotel for more drinks and a movie. I'm not big on parties, but that's just me!

I'm going to be honest, I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding coming up after my own. The bride's bachelorette is destination and it literally causes me anxiety. It's so much money and I really want to attend, but it's a pain in the ass. What I'm saying is: destination bachelorette are more trouble than their worth. Party in the nearest city closest to you.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

We won't be doing NYC because I'm from North Jersey lol we've all been to NYC way too many times to count. All my jobs/internships were there. I do love the city but it's not something new.

As for not doing a destination party, unfortunately I don't hate the idea, I only have 4 BM and they are all on board for that. (It was their idea not mine).

I definitely wouldn't fault anyone if they can't make it. But I do think a closer city would probably be a little cheaper and easier for people.

Because it'll most likely be in March/April, I'm nervous about the weather. I'm hoping it won't be freezing or potentially snowing. ( MD is super unpredictable ).

I'll keep in mind everything that's been said. Thanks y'all Smiley smile

I wouldn't fly cross country for just a weekend.

When I book travel at work, I start with Kayak. Southwest and Virgin do not list their prices there, so you will have to check there separately.

Don't be afraid to check for nearby airports. Like NJ has Newark, but Trenton or Atlantic City may have deals, assuming the travelers can get there without much hassle.

I never book directly through Kayak. Once I know what airline(s) I want to use, I book directly with the airline. Sometimes you can get lower totals by using different airlines in and out.

I'm originally from Nashville. There is lots of stuff to do. You can party and sightsee. You can also go as country as you want or more upscale roof top clubs. During March and April it's normally pretty chilly tho but that doesn't seem to stop ppl from being out and about. Downtown Nashville is always busy which if you want that party vibe you got it. I think there is a pretty good balance of different things to do.

Keep in mind spring break when choosing your weekend, our Bach party will be around the same time. We are leaning more toward April to avoid spring break.
