Destination elopement in new zealand!

Katie, on June 6, 2018 at 11:23 AM Posted in Planning 1 14
So after discussing the pros and cons, FH and i have decided to go with a destination elopement in NZ!! we already contacted the company and started the process, we’re still debating on a date (we were going to do may in the US, but that’s the end of their fall/beginning of their winter down there!) but have the deposit money sitting and waiting once we decide!!

we also figured we’d do a small vow renewal and reception on our one year anniversary back home for everyone to be a part of, but we’re so excited to be getting married on top of a mountain in NZ!!

any destination/elopement brides or grooms that have advice for us?

Just enjoy your time! It truly makes wedding planning easier when you can elope. I have been to a few small intimate weddings where the couple decided to elope and those have been my favorite!

I've seen pictures of an elopement on a top of a mountain somewhere in Europe (might have been NZ but can't remember) anyway, the pictures were THE BEST wedding pictures I've seen, so unique and the perfect backdrop. Good choice!

Isn't it such a relief when you make a huge big picture decision? Now you have more of an idea how the day will look like! Your plan sounds sooo dreamy! Congratulations!

Which part of NZ are you going to go to? I'm from NZ, now live in America. Winter can be beautiful also, but just be aware that it will rain a lot over winter. The South Island has some great winter destinations, the mountains and ski fields, the alps etc. Where I grew up in Auckland it rained frequently over the winter months. But late autumn/early winter hopefully wont be as wet, just cold.

Oh nice! That is a great place for winter activities, weddings included. It would snow there rather than have much rain. Also Queenstown has a ton of activities to do, it is designed for the adventure tourist. I know you will have a great time there. November will be the start of winter, so be prepared for cold - especially if you go to the mountains. You will have some amazing photo opportunities there. I wish you all the best for it

OMG I'm sorry, i cant believe I messed that up. I guess I have been in America too long! I was thinking about January and Feburuary being the months O avoid being back home, and without thinking about it figured it was because of the cold. Actually I avoid that time because of the heat! I feel like an idiot now, sorry about the confusion. I know that the seasons there are opposite that of America, but I guess I have been so focused on getting married in December, during winter, that I forgot to switch the seasons up. This is the first time I have made this mistake lol
