Destination Guest List Worries

I'm having a destination wedding in Jamaica next year. My fiance and I have a guest list of 100, but we'd like to keep it to 60 or 70. I've heard that many people who are invited to destinations aren't able to make it anyway. Do you ladies think we'd be okay with inviting the 100 anyway and crossing...

Only invite what you can host!

We are having a destination wedding and all but 1 family is coming. We thought no one would come. So if you want 60-70, id only invite 60-70

Thank you for all of your input and suggestions! We can want to keep it somewhat intimate. I know of at least 20ppl on the list who most likely won't be able to make it, but we'll definitely be reconsidering our list thanks to your suggestions. Smiley smile

@Molly - I'm in the same boat as you! I was shocked (and happy of course) at how many people are coming to our destination wedding. I definitely wouldn't bank on people not attending - especially if you give them advanced notice.

Some poor soul, months ago, invited more than her venue allowed, counting on declines, and then was totally screwed when she went over. I never saw an update, so I don't know what she did about it, but you will be much more relaxed if you don't put yourself in the position of either going waaayyyy over budget or having to call people and say, "Sorry, we didn't think you'd accept."

Gross @ A and B list. Jamaica is really not that expensive. I would only invite who I wanted to be there. Between FH & I we have hundreds of family members, but we only invite 50 people. We may get 20 or so guest that actually show up. We're not inviting anymore people, because we don't want anyone else there; otherwise, we would have invited them. Only invite the people you can afford to accommodate!!!!

As others have said only invite who you can afford. If you're just wanting to keep it intimate, but can afford the extra guests than invite them with the fact that all of them may show up in the back of your mind. No it probably won't happen, but a lot of people like to take advantage of destination weddings as a reason to have a vacation as well.

It's so important that you only invite who you can afford to entertain. It would be terrible to start your marriage in debt due to poor planning.
