Destination Wedding and Rsvps

Gina, on February 16, 2022 at 11:16 AM Posted in Planning 1 2
Hello all,

Wedding is less than 80 days away! I have sent out my invites with a March 1st deadline which is less than 2 weeks out. So 2 questions:
I’ve barely gotten any RSVPs. Is this normal?
Also, what do I do about the people who waited last minute to start the process of their passport? Some people aren’t expected to get their passport till a week before the wedding. How do I go about with this RSVP response?
Thank you

I think receiving fewer RSVPs at this point is expected. Many people tend to wait until the very last minute to RSVP. Some people may not yet know their work schedules or availability for May yet, and they might be waiting to RSVP until time gets closer.

As for those who haven't gotten their passports yet, there isn't much that you can do other than sending them a reminder. If they don't receive their passport in time, that is on them, and they'll have to miss the wedding. If they RSVP yes, I would count them as a yes, even if they don't have their passport yet. You might end up paying for a few extra meals if people end up having to back out because they didn't get their passport in time, but I think that's better than not having a meal for them if they do end up getting it in time. If there is anyone you know of who hasn't gotten their passport yet and they RSVP'd yes, you could reach out with a reminder and a link to where to begin the passport process.

My RSVP deadline was yesterday and I still have to call 22 people. So pretty normal since you still have some time!
