Destination wedding Austin, tx

Syreeta, on June 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM Posted in Texas Planning 1 9

Has anyone been to the Chapel Dulcinea? Or have known someone who have gotten married there? How were guest transported? We're thinking of staying in the city of Austin, TX (maybe central) and have found that it will be approximately 47 mins to get to the wedding site. Any thoughts? -

My dilemma is if we stay near the wedding site, we'll need to downtown Austin for all the other festivities - that can get expensive. However if we stay near downtown Austin, we will possibly need to provide transportation for all our guest (because we'll all be coming from out of town) - which I don't mind, if we can find affordable shuttle or so.

Also who do you suggest for catering a very small group? less than 30

I had originally wanted to get married there, but went with another venue for the same reasons you are giving. 47 minutes isn't horrible, but it definitely isn't the best. I know Austin usually always has traffic so if you do go with the venue, make sure you let your guests know that ahead of time so that they can plan accordingly. If you like bar-b-que, then I'd definitely do Saltlick in Driftwood. But again, you'd have to travel.

If I were you, I'd think about how much are you willing to ask your guests to travel for your wedding? Do you have a lot of people who are already coming from out of town? Will they be needing a rental car, etc.?

As a guest, I'd be fine to travel UP TO 30 minutes to get fed and watered! Haha. Seriously, though, I would not want to travel, let's say 20 minutes for your ceremony & then hop back in the car & travel another 47 minutes for your reception. But that's just me.

I am doing exactly this. We are getting married in the afternoon at Chapel Dulcinea and then doing an evening river boat cruise near downtown Austin. Its about a 45 min drive. We are keep it fairly small and most everyone is coming from Houston. I am putting information overload on our wedding website so guest know what to expect. We are expecting around 40 people and its all very close family and friends. Its a long drive but we are also paying good money to keep guest entertained and happy. You just have to know your crowd I suppose.

We are all coming from other states, so we decided to have lunch and drinks at the crowded barrels which is in the same compound...which will be nice
Nora i have a new fear... The heat! Both the ceremony and lunch will be outside...any suggestions? I'm thinking if hands fans or parasols

I was thinking of doing the river boat for the welcome day (maybe some quick cocktails before) - which company are you going with?

Sorry for the late reply I just now saw this post. We are using lake austin riverboats. Very laid back nothing fancy at all which is exactly what we wanted! I have spoken with Brandon the owner several times and just went over the past weekend to tour the boat. So far communication has been good. We did eat at Hula Hut which is one of the caterers and the food was amazing!

Hey Kayla! How did the river boat cruise go? That sounds like a super fun way to have a reception. We are considering Chapel Dulcinea, but didn't know what to do after for a reception. Our crowd is small... about 35 people.

We cancelled this and eloped with our immediate family due to covid. I enjoyed all communication with Lake Austin River Boats during the planning process. I think its a great choice. They have a 50 person minimum for the pup but I think they will work with you on catering costs if you are under 50 people. It is only the "boat" fee that will still have the 50 minimum applied. I would say they were still pretty cost effective for everything you get. The BYOB option was also a good choice as they will still serve what you bring. We were going to use Total Wine for booze and the price was great! Good luck!!

Sweeteventstx.com - I believe her name is Candice Wheeler is an event planner that has worked on the boat several times. If she is in your budget I would suggest reaching out.
