Destination Wedding: Bach or No Bach?

Halli, on June 13, 2022 at 4:26 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11

We are planning a destination wedding in France next year and I am torn about having a bachelor/bachelorette party in addition to asking everyone to travel to Europe. One the one hand, there may be some that can't travel to Europe so it would be nice to celebrate state-side, but at the same time, it is a lot. Thoughts??

You could potentially have a party for the ones that are not able to travel to Europe and you can still have your destination wedding in France. However, just keep in mind that there might be a lot of people who are not able to travel as they might still need to get a passport and it might cost them a lot of money.

Are your bridesmaids or whoever else you'd invite all in a close location? You could all have a girls' night locally where you hit up a spa, get dinner, bar hop, have a movie night and takeout, etc. Then it's not such a huge financial commitment.

I wish!😩we are all pretty spread out - half on the East Coast, half on the West.

Ok well yes that will be a good idea to have something here because we are somewhat are still in and coming out of pandemic. Prices to go to to Europe are very high and those who don't have a passport it's taking longer to get. So talk with your families and friends I'm sure they wont mind and will be happy that you thought of them. And play off the theme where your wedding will be

If you're all on opposite coasts, I would not ask them to travel twice for you. I hear flights are crazy expensive right now. Maybe a Zoom night

You can just have a modest, local bachelorette 😊 that's what my girls planned for me and it was SO FUN!!! It doesn't need to be a big expensive weekend for them. I was so amazed how much they planned and surprised me and they of course spent money, but it wasn't something ridiculous so I don't feel guilty about them doing all this plus flying from Europe to the States next month for my wedding. ❤️

I would just do a night a couple days before the wedding in Europe with whoever could make it.

My wedding party is mostly in the same boat- 80% of them are on the west coast. Wedding is on west coast which is super easy for those in the area. To make it easier for those on the east coast, we're having the bachelorette party on the east coast.

It's all a bit of a win-loss, especially with travel costs right now, but you know your wedding party members. Some of them may find it more reasonable than others to make that kind of travel. Best thing to do is have an open conversation with them about cost, locations, and so on. Smiley smile
