Destination wedding hair & makeup

Kathleen, on March 19, 2019 at 7:48 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 3

I'm getting married 2 hours away from where I live, and know no one around that area. My hair stylist won't travel, and I didn't expect her to (though I definately offered to compensate for the travel because I love her!). How did those of you who got married "away" decide who was going to do your hair/makeup and what resources did you find most useful to find your vendor(s) for hair & makeup? Sidebar - I've got a mop of hair that's down to my belt line and am trying to find someone who can make my very thick and full head-o-hair look like a voluminous but hopefully not frayed Texas bombshell waves and curls. I can do it myself... I just don't want to!

I just found somebody in my price point and did thorough research reading reviews, looking at their portfolios, etc.
If it's only 2 hours away you should be able to take a quick trip to do a trial still to see how they'll do with your hair.
I dont have that luxury lol my destination is a 2 hour flight and I dont have time to get back there!

I had a DW so a trial wasn’t possible. I read Yelp & The Knot reviews, looked at their website galleries, and chatted with them (or customer service) by phone. I felt comfortable and brought photos. Turned out great!

Hey Kathleen! Your hair sounds stunning! Are you hoping to leave it down on your wedding day?

Do you know anyone nearby where you are getting married that you could ask for hairstylist suggestions? If not, don't panic! Do some research and find some that you feel may work - search their websites, read their reviews, look for their Instagram accounts.

Since you are only 2 hours drive away, you may be able to take some time to do a trial before the wedding, that way you can be confident on the morning of your wedding that your stylist is confident in what they are doing.

I've found a couple of articles about choosing your hairstylist that might be an interesting read for you and give you some helpful tips!
