Destination wedding minister???

bay, on July 19, 2009 at 1:40 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

Does anyone have any idea where to start here? We want a minister for our wedding ceremony, not a sea captain or officiant. The coordinator I spoke with said she had a list but I haven't been able to reach her. I've posted on other sites, i.e. trip advisor. But everyone keeps pushing the officiant/sea captain idea saying they're really nice people. No offense, I'm sure they may be wonderful and very friendly, but that's not what we want for our ceremony. Has anyone encountered this issue before?

I am not sure where you are planning for your wedding to take place, however most often religious specific ministers (I believe that is what you are looking for) request you to be a member of their church or belong to a related church of that specific religion. That may be the reason you are being advised to use an Officiant or Sea Captain.

There are many ordained ministers who will perform your ceremony. As an example we are ordained in one church but do have ceremonies for all religions, it is your day...do it your way!

If you go to Carambola Resort website at http://www.carambolabeach.com/assets/2009 Wedding Packages.pdf you will see the names of two ministers (Officiants) on their preferred vendors list.

As Alafia comments, if you want a church minister (i.e., Pastor), (s)he most likely would not officiate your marriage. You may wish to ask the minister in which capacity (s)he sings the license. For example, as a member of the clergy, I must sign a California license as, "Minister."

    Best regards,

Sorry -- the link should have read as follows: http://www.carambolabeach.com/assets/2009 Wedding Packages.pdf

It could be the theWeddingWire editor removes the representing a blank space in the URL. If so, just put the coding back into the blank spaces.

    I apologize for the confusion.

Or perhaps someone special that is coming could find out what the guidelines are and get ordained to marry you? here in Washington they don't even have to be ordained, you just have to beleive they have the authority and consumate it and your married! I am having my grandfather perform the ceremony!

If you look online, you can find a few ministers like myself who are traveling wedding ministers/officiants as well. I have my own church, but I also marry people who are not members of my church and not in my church but at thier location of choice. Now I have been told at least in my area that there are not many like this, but you could try looking online and see if you could find someone. I do not know where your location is because there are different laws for different places and states as well. If you need any help with this you can email me as well at ********@*******.***, I may have some sites that can help you.
