Destination wedding planners

We’re in the early stages of planning, but the first thing we did was hire a planner that is local to the area we are getting married. I was really looking for someone who has all the local expertise and relationships with vendors, and can manage all those vendors for me so I don’t have to chase anyone around.

Our destination wedding (elopement) is in Hawaii. So we hired a reputable planning company in Oahu. Having an experienced wedding planner who is local to the area is best. They can answer your questions, lead you in the right direction and provide solid recommendations.

I know that some people say that once you have experience planning events you can do it anywhere, but I was specifically looking for local expertise when hiring someone. I wanted someone who had eaten the food from different caterers and could tell us who is best, etc.
