Destination wedding planning

Jess, on November 22, 2020 at 5:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 21
Hi guys!
I’m starting to plan my Mexico destination wedding! My budget is $15k and I’m paying $3k for a full package wedding planner/travel agent in one! I just hired them so we haven’t really started planning just yet but I’m so excited! Is $12k a sufficient amount of money for an all inclusive Mexico wedding for 40-50 guests? I’m sure it will work but I want it to be a dream wedding. Has anyone had one like this? And advice? Has anyone used The Eventeur wedding planning services?! I hired them and I’m really excited!

I think that 12k for 30-40 guests will be more than enough for you to have a beautiful wedding! But that's exciting that you're officially planning now, I'm sure your planner will have some amazing ideas for you!

I planned an wedding in Jamaica with a private dinner on the beach for 50 guests with 1 small centerpiece/table, used the chairs that came with the package, photographer and videographer for 6 hrs, 3-tier cake, and unlimited drinks came to $18,000. I did not hire a wedding planner because there wasn’t much to plan and it was super easy. Also, our travel agent was free and all 50 guests booked through her so it was nice and she would email us every time someone booked. Good news is, Mexico is the cheapest place to get married and I think $12K will get the job done from what I know. I also looked into Mexico, but H and I refuse to get a full blood panel done in Mexico 3 days before the wedding which is required and not an option. I would definitely start picking your wedding planner’s brain for $3K! I am assuming she will be there the day of and that includes her travel though. Have fun!!! 🌴

Hi so we are planning on getting married in the US right before we go so it would be a symbolic wedding I should say! I’ve heard crazy stories of all inclusive hotels being able to move ceremonies and receptions last minute and there could be like 4 going on at a time and I don’t want to deal with that on the day of! Also, I have too much stuff going on in my personal life that I don’t really want to stress over weddings so that’s why I chose to work with one that I can put my whole trust in! Thanks for sharing your plan because I feel so much better now about my budget! I will definitely be making sure the planner was worth it! Thanks!

Oh okay! Yes, a symbolic will be cheaper and less stressful! Wow, I’ve never heard of resorts doing multiple weddings, yikes! Our contract was pretty cut and dry regarding any other weddings, thankfully. I hope you get to enjoy the wedding planning process 🤍

May I ask what hotel did you have it at? Also, did you plan on having fun activities with your guests? like excursions or something? or did you let them do whatever they wanted? Did you have a welcome party or rehearsal dinner?

Iberostar; yes, we rented a bus with 30 seats and put all details of both excursions on wedding website saying we are paying for the bus, but guests are responsible for each excursion. No welcome party, yes rehearsal dinner - but at a restaurant since it was all-inclusive anyways. People are going to arrive and leave on different days, so if you do plan other events, make sure they’re the day before or after the wedding if you want the majority to join! Usually resorts have the resort wedding planner spend a half day with the couple 2 or 3 days before the big day to just go over details and make sure the set-up is what you want.

I think it's enoigh. Remember that you must take a blood test in order to legally marry in mexico if you're not a mexican citizen. The test mist be taken at least 10 days before your wedding.

We switched from Mexico to Jamaica, because we didn’t want to do symbolic either.

Girl keep me posted! I’m looking to do the same thing. Initially looking at the keys but it looks cheaper to do it in Mexico at this point lol.
