Destination Wedding Planning

Shana, on January 20, 2021 at 8:17 PM Posted in Planning 1 29
I’m getting married 10/20/22 and I have barely started getting into full gear planning mode 😅 Am I starting late? My fiancé and I are planning a destination wedding. Is anyone else planning a destination and have you had a hard time communicating with the venue?

Welcome to WW! If you’re are planning an October 2022 wedding you are not behind. I would suggest you find your venue as soon as possible and lock that in and then go from there. I actually planned my destination wedding in about 11 weeks. Good luck with your wedding planning!!

You’re not behind at all - our date is 15 Oct 22. We have booked the venue because I was getting anxious that 2022 was going to be booked fast due to 2021 and covid. It had the added benefit of locking in pricing.

Oh thank goodness! I have the same anxiety you do and I blame Covid lol I’ll definitely get on choosing a venue quickly 😅 I’m glad I’m not alone. Happy wedding planning!

You too! I feel a bit silly that I’ve been planning over two years but I don’t want to have to postpone!

    Congratulations on the engagement!
I wouldn’t say you are behind on planning, but I would definitely encourage you to secure a venue ASAP because a lot of weddings are getting postponed to next year, and Fall dates go quickly! We are having a destination wedding as well. It’s been surprising easy to plan! If you enjoy planning and are an organized person, you should be fine. I would suggest making a wedding planning binder to keep all your info, contracts, notes re: phone conversations with vendors, etc. It’s super helpful having everything in one place.

I am definitely the crazy organized one in my relationship 😂 it’s fun for me as crazy as that sounds. I’m excited to start but this is all so new and there’s so much to do! Hopefully after setting a venue things will just fall into place! Thanks so much and Congratulations to you too!

I splurged on an planner fro Plumpaper, they have a wedding add on to the planners, in various sizes. They are fun because you can customize then as little or much as you want. Even alter the text in the pages in the planner, as well as the covers - you can put a photo!

I think you’re right on track with planning. I would definitely book the venue ASAP. Everything else just falls into place. We live in northern AZ but our venue is in the Phoenix area (we chose it done the majority of family lives there) which is 2.5 hours away. We narrowed down our must haves when looking to venues that have all inclusive packages. That has helped us so much!

I just want to stay ahead because I know a lot of weddings have been postponed due to COVID. I’m hearing fall weddings are also popular. But my date is on a Thursday so I think that helps me a little

Thank you. Yes, I'm definitely waiting on planning much else because as I look at different venues my flowers, colors, and dress ideas all change to fit the location.

We're planning a DW for Feb 2022 and just agreed for sure the location Smiley xd I've been on top of leaving messages and emails when I was getting a feel for venues and other vendors when we were narrowing the destination down. Some got back promptly others took weeks.

It’s okay! Literally I feel the same way but apparently if you have the venue everything else will flow naturally so that can be a goal for right now 👍🏽 you got this and Congratulations!!!
