Ok, so I'll be getting in Mexico in August of 2011! Initially I wanted to do a reception since my fiance' and I will be relocating to another city after we're married...then I just figured it would all be too much of a hassle and most people won't bring gifts anyway... But now that we've set a date...

But now that we've set a date and started moving forward with the planning....I've kind of been entertaining the thought of a reception again. I CAN'T MAKE A DECISION!!!!!

Have any of you had destination weddings and came back and had a receptions? If so, was it worth the added expense/time/hassle!????

This is off subject, but you know what I REALLY hate about this website....

I can't have more than one album to show off our engagement pics and pics of us through our 10yrs of dating! *ANNOYING*

    K, I'm done venting! ;-)

I'm having a destination wedding in PR next June. Our plan so far is to have a small 'civil' ceremony here and invite 'everyone'. We didnt want to just have a 'party' so we decided that we might as well have people be involved in one of the wedding celebrations.

Since not everyone can travel, the wedding in PR will be the church wedding and that will be only family and close friends.

A second reception! A great excuse to relive some of the moments and honor lots of your guests who could not make it!

I began planning a church wedding and was overwhelmed with everything and the hassle of getting a wedding party together with everyone and whom to ask to do what...it was stressful beyond words. So my fiance said let's do a destination wedding and elope you want to go to Niagara Falls for our honeymoon anyways so let's just get married there as well. The idea was great without having the stress of planning the wedding; I felt like the world had been lifted off my shoulders! So the wedding went perfect! So the idea for our reception is to do an indoor outdoor barbaque in the evening with tents and lighting all around invited around 50 of our closest family and friends! With our wedding cake it will be July 2nd...decor red, white and blue! He's a marine...that was our colors also were keeping it simple ! I used Facebook to send out invitations, champagne to toast, light gospel music in the background and backyard, pictures for guests to view! Letters of my initial and his for guest to sign! Keeping it simple it's going to be great!

I have a serious question . my fiancé & i have planned a destination wedding to marco island january of 2018 . we aren't the type to like all the attention on us & we really wanted it to be a " vacation " feel . so we planned out an entire week of festivities . we only invited parents , siblings & extremely close friends who would have been the bridal party . after all things said & done , invitations were sent out etc .. we are hoping we didn't offend the rest of the family . we have , in the works , a backyard celebration to follow for about 200 people but not until june . does anyone think this is wrong ?

Hi! My husband and I got married March 1st on an island stop during a cruise to the Bahamas. We had about 40 guests join us. A lot of family and friends still were not able to make it so we are having a reception back home in about 3 weeks. We wanted to give ourselves some time to come back to earth after such an amazing vacation and also give our friends and family that DID join us on the cruise some time to settle down as well. We haven't had any complaint about the length of time between the two events.

We have just decided to go to the registry and not tell a soul. We have spent 3 years thinking and looking and stressing due to family bring in 2 countries and some not bring able to travel. The thing I care more for is photos so I am going to make sure I book a photographer at a later date in both places to have pictures with family. We will have a party back home but casual, however I would love the ability to have speeches and know other half will miss that, but not sure if people will think that is really lame
