Destination Wedding: Visiting Fees

Maisie, on January 4, 2022 at 3:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
Is there a way to ask for destination wedding venues (hotels) to pay for your accommodation while you visit the site? How would you work or ask that?

When you say “visit the site”, do you mean do a walk-through to see if you would like to have your wedding there? If so, I have never heard of a hotel paying for a potential customer’s accommodations. Could you imagine how much money they would lose doing that? Anyone could pretend to be interested in the site just to get free accommodations. You could try asking the event coordinator if they would offer a discount, but I definitely wouldn’t count on them comping your stay.

Our resort (The Excellence in the Dominican) will pay for two nights to visit the resort prior to the wedding. However, I think you had to already have committed/booked them for your wedding to get the two free nights. We did not take them up on that offer because we had already visited the resort twice before (and it was the height COVID, so weren't traveling anywhere!).
