Destination Wedding - When to Have Bridal Shower / Bachelorette Party??

Tessa, on April 18, 2018 at 2:25 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11

Hi all -

I'm having a destination wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico in February 2019 and I'm trying to figure out when would be the best time to have a bridal shower and a bachelorette party.

Everywhere I am reading says 1-3 months out, but because we are getting married early February, the 1-3 month mark hits right in the holidays. I would have family and friends that will be traveling from out of town and state to the bridal shower, so I'd feel bad if it were that close to the wedding since they will have to travel to the wedding too. The bachelorette party would mainly consist of girls in close proximity and MOH will be traveling from out of state and we were thinking of a road trip to Austin. But being so close to the holidays, its just throwing me off. Plus, January weather for a Bachelorette party in Texas is not really ideal.

I was thinking...

Bridal Shower - Sep or Oct

Bachelorette Party - Oct or Nov

Thoughts?? Any advise and recommendations will be super helpful!!

Confused Bride -

Tessa

I'm doing my bachelorette when we get to the destination so 2 days prior. All the moms traveling are not bringing kids so it made sense to just do it this way because it's easier. Bridal shower is about 7 weeks before Smiley smile

My FH is having his Bachelor party where we live about 2 months prior (more of my friends are able to travel then his)

Do you have someone who is offering to throw these for you? If not, plan for your wedding and get ready for the big day Smiley smile.

If someone is offering to host events like these, then, I think Bridal shower in late Oct, possibly Nov. and Bachelorette probably the same. When I planned the bach for my sister, we actually did that and the shower in one weekend so her BM's didn't have to make two different flight arrangements.

Who is throwing these parties for you? Let them decide and provide a guest list if asked.

My best friend had a destination wedding in the DR on March 10th, we threw her Bridal Shower at the end of January and we did her bach party in Boston on the weekend of the 27th of February. Her H had his bach weekend in Baltimore in December. I don't think it really matters when the bachelorette is.

My friend had a semi-DW wedding (for her half of the guest list)...she had her bach party on friday/saturday and her bridal shower on sunday so no one had to miss out and it was one flight.

Fellow DW bride here - we did our couples shower in March (2 months from wedding) and my bachelorette party in April (1 month before). pick whatever days work best for your VIPs (those people you can't imagine your parties without). also - consider having a bachelorette party in Mexico a few days before the wedding - yeah, you may miss some girls, but it'd be a super easy party to plan Smiley smile

I'm getting married in Playa Del Carmen on **** and we are having the bachelortte party in Playa 2 days before we get married. It just makes it easier on my bridesmaids so they don't have to travel twice. Smiley smile

We are having our wedding in FL. I haven't decided on a date exactly yet but what I wasnt sure about was if our wedding is going to be small due to the fact that we are having a DW do we still have the Bachelor/Bachelorette partiesand the Bridal shower? If so would this be a time where we could invite those that wont be able to come to the wedding?

We are also getting married in Riviera Maya, Mexico the end of February. We are having a bridal brunch and bachelorette party in early November to miss the holidays (and we live in northern Minnesota and don’t want to do anything in late January). Congratulations and have fun with all the wedding events!!
