Destination Wedding

Veronica, on July 14, 2021 at 1:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
Hi everyone! So I just went out of the country for the first time and LOVED it! So naturally I now want a destination wedding but have NO IDEA where to start. I do have one detail that stands out to me. Should I do All-Inclusive vs. Non?

I highly recommend you consider your guest list. Destination weddings are extremely expensive for guests. Flights, extended time off work, hotels. If you are having an intimate wedding this may be a good option. Personally I think all inclusive due to being in a different country that would help with planning and pulling it all together

Thanks for heads up. I am thinking of something small at home then a kind of "trip" wedding. That's the other thing. I don't necessarily want/need the full wedding experience. I'm also thinking of a just dinner/party type experience. I'm all over the place. 🥴

My friends eloped in Hawaii and loved it!! They worked with a company that had everything taken care of for them, and also planned out their honeymoon as well! I'm all for all inclusive if you go destination! Since you won't physically be there to choose vendors and research them and meet in person, it would be nice to have it all included.

I agree with N. Destination weddings are VERY expensive, so it's important to keep your guest list in mind. I noticed you said you don't want the full wedding experience, so are you just wanting to elope? Or have a wedding party and a few family members present? I think if you kept it small like that, then it's doable, but anymore guests than that then I think it'd be better to stick with a local wedding.

Also something to consider: Since you said you wanted a small at home wedding then a 'trip' wedding, keep in mind that some guests may end up choosing one or the other. I know that if it was me, I wouldn't be able to afford to attend your local wedding AND the trip one. Plus, I'm more likely to go to the local one since that wedding is where you'd legally be married. I'd consider the trip one to just be similar to a vow renewal.

Either Mexico or DR. Possibly Jamaica? Something with a good deal because we are thinking about 30-50 people.

Hi! We went with an all-inclusive destination wedding package (in Portugal) and have zero regrets.

We had to push back or postpone four times due to COVID, and our coordinator has been exceptionally supportive and helpful in reorganizing things with the venue and associated vendors. It’s taken a lot of the stress out of the planning process, and allowed us to really focus on making the experience an enjoyable one for our small crowd.
Due to COVID, we’re expecting about 20 guests total, which means they’ll get a truly luxe experience! Yes, all-inclusive seems pricy, but it’s worth it. We also opted for a week-day package, which helped reduce costs overall. We figured that people would have to travel anyway, so there wasn’t a real need for a weekend wedding.
You can also consider “off-season” packages, since in many destinations, weather is temperate for more months of the year than in the US. All of this to say, we feel strongly that all-inclusive is the way to go! And there are ways to make it affordable, it just takes a little creative thinking and flexibility.
If you haven’t settled on a destination yet, I would highly recommend our venue: https://www.portugalweddingvilla.com/

Hi! Would you happen to know the name of the company your friend worked with? I’m planning to elope to Hawaii and don’t know where to start.
