Just Said Yes September 2021

Destination weekday wedding

Brianna, on November 19, 2020 at 8:29 PM Posted in Planning 1 5
I’ve just started wedding planning. I’ve fallen in love with a venue 3 hours away. We would like to get married in either September or October. My problem is that every Fri-Sun for Sept/October are completely booked for both ‘21 & ‘22. Am I being unreasonable for wanting a Monday or Tuesday wedding at this venue? Do I need to look elsewhere?

It depends on who your guests are and if you have an idea they'll be able to make it.

Where are the majority of the guests coming from? Our venue is 2.5 hrs away (we live in northern AZ & the venue is in the Phoenix area). We chose the area since the majority of our family lives there - we chose the venue because we fell in love with it & it has an all inclusive package that we needed since we live so far away.

Is it 3 hours roundtrip or 6 hours roundtrip? I think for me personally if it was a close friends/relatives wedding then I would do it. But I wouldn't attend a wedding that far away on a weekday for someone I am not close with. Because I wouldn't want to take off of work the next day after that commute.

If you choose to have a weekday wedding that far away, just expect your decline rate to be very high. If I was in your shoes, I would find a different venue. No venue would be worth having to have a Monday or Tuesday wedding.

I don't think I'd aim for a Tuesday(anything midweek is a little too much I think), I'd rather do a Thursday ( I know its still midweek) than a Monday however maybe do it later in the day because some of your guests would want to go to work if they could and possibly take Friday off. I know you said Fri-Sun are al out but does this also include a brunch wedding? I had a Sunday night wedding but was offered to do a brunch which would have been cheaper and ended much earlier. I loved my wedding but this also seemed way fun after I really thought about it. Wedding at 9 am and brunch reception right after? Think mimosa bar, maybe a donut wall and hot chocolate/coffee. It's an idea, hope it helps.
