Details card and/or wedding website

Michelle, on May 16, 2021 at 5:07 PM Posted in Planning 1 6
How specific are you going with details? Assuming that guests are unfamiliar with the vast majority (the area. the type of wedding/reception, the menu details, transportation and lodging, straying from the norm in any way) or leaving it up to whatever happens and your wedding follows the same script as those prior in your family/circle?

This is what our information card says; tried to keep it simple but informative.

    Information Card

    Accommodations

Las Vegas is full of lodging options, ranging from affordable neighborhood hotels (with casinos!) to luxury suites on the Strip. Please visit the Local Accommodations tab on our website for a range of options close to Emerald at Queensridge.

    Parking & Transportation

Free parking is available on site. If you are traveling from out of state to celebrate with us and require transportation, Uber and Lyft are widely available!

We included a small card that included the date, time, location, and basic timeline. We also included the link to the website. On the website, we'll be more detailed with timeline, location, hotels, menu, FAQS, parking, Covid restrictions etc.

We probably will not do information cards in the invitations. All of our guests are local, so no one should need lodging - if they do, they're doing it purely for themselves and not because our event necessitates it, so they can figure it out. The venue is a very well-known and very easy to find science museum, and when you book an event there the package includes free parking for your guests in their parking garage (one of the big reasons I really liked it.)

I will probably either have a website, FB event, or maybe even an email, honestly. A little informal, but it isn't a wedding, so I'm going to be flexible and give guests the information the way I know they will all easily access it. I imagine I should include:

    Directions to the venue
Where the complimentary parking is and probably reiterate the fact that it is complimentary (because all of the other parking in the area is pay only)
I might also include some basics of the menu, just so people aren't blindsided since we are having a pretty unconventional spread of foods - not really "here's the entire menu for the night," but maybe something along the lines of "you can expect to enjoy a variety of cuisines, from sushi to barbecue, so bring your appetite!"

We put directions on the website, that included by car and by public transportation. There was also a hotel block (no one used it), a brief note of attire, and a nerdy joke about bringing wands. (Legit had friends who wore their HP House colors, because we are all nerds. We felt very loved by the thought that went into those outfits.)

We never thought of giving recs for what to do... but we got married in NYC, and most of our guest list was local.
