Did alterations not look how you wanted??

Brittany, on July 22, 2021 at 1:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

Hello everyone!

I had my dress go from zipper to corset back. I had no idea it would of changed my sleeves and it came out making me feel frumpy in the front. Has anyone been through this? My seamstress put so much effort into doing what I want and has been so patient with me, but I liked how it looked with the zipper better. I dont want to make her angry and ask to change it back. I dont know what to do Smiley sad. I feel like a horrible human for not liking the turnout.

I think to be honest, that even if she did put the zipper back in, assuming it could even be done, it likely wouldn't look as good as it did, because the material might have been damaged by the changes made to it.

how has it impacted the sleeves, and what do you not like about it? Could she alter the sleeves somehow so you like it more?

Putting the corset back on she had to take it in a tad so the corset back would look good, They are tank top type sleeves on the dress and taking the dress in moved the sleeves into my armpit in the back and has made them tighter and Its hard to raise them up. I didnt think it would affect the sleeves as she didnt mention it when we decided to do the corset back and talked about the changes. Taking the dress in also ceated lumps on the seam where it has been taken in and its uneven.

My daughter just went through something similar with her dress. She’s asked the lady to take the straps up a small amount and somehow it dramatically changed the back of the dress. Luckily she didn’t cut the fabric so we had her let it back out and redo it so it was what my daughter wanted. Don’t feel bad for telling your seamstress what you want. Your paying for it and she should want you to be happy. Good luck.
