Did anyone accidentally find out their FH was gonna propose?

I had a feeling it was coming, but my mom gave it away. FH and I were about to leave for vacation and she told me to be sure to pack a sexy dress and my pretty earrings. We were going to Disney World. Dead giveaway.

We were opening gifts on Christmas at my future in laws. The last gift I opened was a big "D" that lights up (fiancé last name is Davis) His mom tried to play it off but I knew something was up. We got engaged New Year's Eve! Turns out he wanted to propose before Christmas (his mom forgot about the gift) but our work schedules left hardly any free time.

The signs were there for me but I convinced myself I was crazy.

I had been planning a surprise party for my FH at the time - like 4 months of planning&& keeping secrets (which killllllled me). He actually found out about the party at his cousin's house (the guy left the invite on his fridge!) && decided to turn the tables on me. I got him out of the house the day of the party under the pretense of it being a surprise anniversary date as we had just hit the 4 year mark 3 days prior, and it started with 'golfing.' While he was in the shower, he got a text from his boss saying "good luck today" and he had me read it to him. My stomach flipped a little but I chalked it up as nerves about the surprise. Once we got to the party, he said it was his turn to give me my anniversary surprise and it was my ring! Leading up to the week, he mentioned having my nails done for pictures, etc. but once again - I was too focused on keeping my 'secret' from him.

We had been talking about getting married a lot while he was deployed and I knew he would propose when he got home I just wasn't supposed to know when. When he got home we went bowling with his friends. I sat down after it was my turn and I glanced over at him on his phone and saw that he was FB messaging my best friend. Which honestly I wouldn't have thought much of except right after he put his phone away he says hey we should go to the beach after dinner on the 4th of July.

And then of course when we got to the beach I saw her car parked in the parking lot. She's a photographer and she wanted to capture the moment.

We were looking at his phone because we were texting a friend, and he accidentally opened a text from his jeweler with pics of a ring. All I saw was something sparkly! He played it off really well though, like he had just started looking, and the jeweler was sending him ideas. So I thought it was going to be a while. One week later, he proposed! What I saw was a pic of THE ring lol

And about six weeks before this, I thought he was acting funny. We went on vacation with his family and he kept asking me in the weeks prior if I thought I’d be able to hike Mt. Lincoln, which overlooked the valley and ranch in Montana, super gorgeous view. But I had a knee injury at the time, so I kept telling him, I didn’t want to push it, and no, I wouldn’t hike the mountain. He kept trying to find ways, like if we took the longer, flatter route, etc. So I thought he was up to something. Turns out, had he received the ring in time, he was planning to propose on that trip!

In a way. I knew when he decided to propose because I overheard him talking on the phone with my best friend (and I knew that was the only reason he would talk to her), and the next day he went to have dinner with his parents (without me), which is unusual.

The thing was, he didn't propose until a FULL YEAR LATER. It kind of made for a hellish year, because I constantly thought he was going to propose and was wrong, so I was always in cycles of hope and disappointment. On the bright side, I had just given up on thinking about it by the time he did propose, so it did end up being a surprise in the end.

I waa doing laundry and I always have to check his pockets because he leaves stuff in them. Well there was a folded piece of paper so I opened it and it was a receipt for my ring with a picture!

I accidentally came across my ring when I was putting laundry up. I didn't dare open the box but I knew what was in it and knew he was going to propose just not when. When he did I was so surprised. I thought he was going to on Christmas but it turned out he couldn't wait that long and it was week earlier.

We both knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together after 6 months of dating. We started making plans to move in together. Then after 2 years of dating we went on vacation together and visited his family back home in Shanghai. I knew marriage was in our near future, just didn't know exactly how or when he was going to propose. Well he did it while we were on vacation. Earlier in the day we fought over something so stupid. I think it was a SIM card or something phone related/international data. We both realized that our little disagreements are petty and that we can't be mad at each other for too long. We are actually great at resolving arguments with each other, we give each other a little space and then we talk things out and apologize. Later that evening we went on a gondola boat ride over the West Lake in Hangzhou. It was just the 2 of us, sitting across from each other. mid way through our ride, I got up to sit next to him and the guy rowing the boat got upset with me for getting up. I was so apologetic and embarrassed. 5 minutes later FH gets down on one knee and proposes. My first reaction was, sit down! I didn't want us to get in trouble lol. I totally ruined it, but we had a good laugh. We didn't get in trouble and I was definitely surprised. Although, I did have a feeling he might propose on the trip, I was surprised by the moment he chose.

YES! My dad totally ruined the surprise....My dad calls me one night and asked "Do you know what Evan wants to come over and talk about?"

Me- Uhm no..I had no idea he was going over there

Dad - Oh...well maybe it's about work (they work together)....or maybe he's going to ask for your hand in marriage....

Needless to say, my dad totally ruined the surprise because the weekend before this FH and I were looking at rings just for fun! Two days later...he proposed on our 6 year anniversary. It didn't make it any less special, it was just funny knowing it was going to happen.

I knew my H was buying a ring one weekend when I was out of town. I just knew it. Two days later I texted him complaining about weird charges on our phone bill. My parents live out of the country and he assumed the charges were from him calling to ask their blessing. So he panicked and proposed that random Tuesday afternoon thinking I suspected something. Even though I was pretty sure he had the ring I was so surprised!

Haha yep. My FH and I talked about it for a while but my dad spilled the beans almost immediately after he asked my dad.

Mine was thinking out loud and accidentally asked me my ring size... Completely gave it away lol. It was still super special when he finally did though

Yes! We can't keep anything a secret from each other.

On top of that the night he asked my dad for my hand; my dad came up to me and said "so, you and FH are getting married?" Instantly I knew.

Then every time he went ring shopping he told me about the crappy sales person, or the poor quality of rings. It was so comical, because he was excited to tell someone, and I was the only one he wanted to tell.

I had a feeling he was going to propose when he did because a few months before, we were planning a camping trip and he said "that's when I'll do it"

It was still a complete surprise and just as amazing.

ETA: FH has a friend that works at a local jewelry store in the mall. Before any of this happened, FH literally drug me into this store to get my finger sized

FH told me he had asked for my dad's blessing lol so I knew it was happening soon and I told one of my best friends when I thought it was gonna happen and she told him so he did it the night before we left for our trip (I thought it was going to happen on said trip) so I was still surprised. And he did it at home just the two of us and I preferred that rather than in front of my whole family on the trip

Oh Gawd yes, I forgot about it. What a cluster. But it all worked out

So my parents were visiting FH and I in Bend over thanksgiving and FH had apparently asked my parents for their blessing and they basically said no, they had a bunch of conditions. So that whole week FH was being super weird and moody toward my parents and I had no idea why. He was also talking to his dad a lot more than he normally does. After about 3 days of this weird mood and anger FH was in, he finally spilled the beans that he had asked for my parents blessing and they said no. So we figured out how he could tell my parents that he was going to ask me anyway. I figured he was going to ask on my birthday since it was like 4 days after thanksgiving, and he did.

I didn't accidentally find out, but I knew it was coming (we had talked about the ring and how it affected finances) and I just know him so darn well that I had a feeling. And then when I saw the look of sheer panic on his face when it almost didn't go according to plan, I knew for sure
