Did anyone else do things “out of order”?

I’m having some weird anxiety over apparently doing things out of order. A lot of sites have checklists and timelines…I know they’re recommendations and not hard and fast rules but I can’t help but get worried. We’re getting married in a year (date on my profile is not the exact since I’m hiding this profile from my mom but it’s around that time).

For example, we ordered our wedding rings with the engagement ring due to the nature of their make (basically, all rings will come from the same metal plate and as cheesy as it is, we loved the idea of them having a common line). Everywhere I see says to order wedding rings 5-6 months ahead of wedding!

I also put a hold on The Dress last month because I knew no other was going to come close to it for me after I tried it on. Plus, it was already way under my original allocated dress budget and on sale.

Is anyone else doing things “out of order”? I had figured some stuff was logical to lock in first (budget, venue, guest list, desired vibe/aesthetic, etc.) but I’m afraid of doing things wrong!

Yes, we did too! We have a long engagement, so there was a lot of stuff that we could pace out. They're just guidelines, and if you get stuff even earlier, the better!

Most of the time, those guidelines are talking about the latest you should be doing things- like Emily said, the more you get done earlier, the better!

The only thing I have left to do are things I honestly CAN'T do until our wedding is closer. Hell, we booked our venue for our 2023 wedding in 2021, and I bought my dress 3 months later! If you see it, want it and it fits your budget, screw the "schedule"! LOLOL Seriously, Like Lydia said, most of those guidelines are more like warnings so you don't wait too long, Keep on going with what you can do now to help alleviate all the stress and worry to come.

Just like others have said, generally doing things earlier than “suggested” is never a bad thing 😀 I’m getting antsy waiting to be able to do little details closer to my wedding date, but technically I could be doing them early.

In short, don’t worry about it! Do whatever you want to make your planning easier for you!

I booked my makeup artist before anything else 😂 I did everything out of order .. We have everything booked and almost everything paid off besides the cake lady, bartender and we owe just a little bit more on our venue … Oh and no officiant yet 😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️

I ordered my husbands wedding ring like 3 days after we got engaged. I was just too excited. He's worn it every day since it came in. We also got legally married over a year before our actual wedding and have really only told immediate family and bridal parties. I dont know how much more out of order you can get than that lol.

I haven't done everything that the checklist told me to do then I am alittle ahead of somethings. My dress bridesmaids dresses except 2 waiting for because it was switched. My invitations are going out now venue is almost paid last payment the day of. Liens are bought just waiting for FH and his groomsmen to get there tuxedos done but our wedding bands some other stuff will be soon done.
