Did anyone pay for hair and makeup for engagement pictures?

If you know how to do makeup, save your money! I did my own hair & makeup for mine & I was pleased with the outcome.

I’m getting mine done at Ulta. I want it to look good, I think I would just mess it up.

Hi Acacia! Were you planning to do a hair and makeup trial for your wedding? If so, many people in the community choose to have their trials done before an important event such as their engagement party, engagement photo shoot, bridal shower, etc. Is this something you think you could do for your engagement shoot?

This is a good idea! If you are skilled in doing your makeup, you may just want to do your own for your engagement photos! But, if you do hire a professional to do your makeup for your wedding, I highly reccomend doing a trial before your wedding day! This is to ensure you like the way they do your makeup, as well as being able to create a relationship with the artist!

I did my own hair and makeup for my engagement photos. I wanted a more natural look for those photos which I could do myself. I just went a little heavier on my usual makeup so I didn’t look too washed out. I did do a trial for my hair and make up for the wedding, but did it a month out from the wedding like my HMUA suggested instead of 9 months in advance when get did our engagement photos.

I'm planning on doing my hair and makeup how I normally do when I need to look nice. I want the pictures to look like us on a normal nice occasion.

I did my own makeup for engagement photos. I didn't feel the need to splurge on makeup just for a engagement shoot when I do ok myself. I will however be getting a professional to do my wedding makeup.

I was going to. That day was going to be my makeup trial, but my MUA had a death in the family and had to cancel. So I ended up doing my own hair/mua and our photos came out great. But it would have been WAY BETTER if I had a MUA that day.

I did my own makeup bc I'm fussy with that. Definitely paid for my hair. My photographer is a friend of mine and told me most women do. This is not the best example but I don't have my engagement photos saved to my phone lol

I felt the same way when I did mine. I paid for hair, but did my own make up as I'm pretty picky with my makeup and we were using them fr save the dates, I wanted to look like myself.

I did get mine done but that is bc I also don’t know how lol You mentioned knowing how to do it yourself. If it’s not a problem I don’t see why you can’t. However, I also chose someone who I was considering for my bridal makeup as a test run.
