Did anyone skip boutonnieres and corsages?

VeganWifey, on July 23, 2016 at 8:38 PM

I am thinking of skipping boutonnieres and corsages to save money. We would be needing 12 boutonnieres and 5 corsages. For that price, I could get a garland I really wanted for the head table. Does anyone see an issue with anyone (grandparents) getting offended? Or think it will look bad for photos...

Or think it will look bad for photos or the ceremony?!

Thanks!!!

I'm seeing fewer bouts, and corsages make me feel old, lol

My mom and I have this fight! I think corsages are meaningless and get thrown on the table at the party anyway so what is the point.

I'm DIYing them! Originally I wanted them because there are a few people we originally wanted in the BP but 2 BMs dropped out (by choice) because they're pregnant and don't feel comfortable in the spotlight. My brother isn't in the BP because he and FH just clash personalities. So I wanted something to set them apart somehow so we decided on boutonnieres and corsages. The BP (not BMs though since they have bouquets) the two dropped out BMs, my brother, and our parents and grandparents will wear them. I'm not sure exactly how much they cost to make (I'm terrible at tracking expenses, FH does it usually). But they were really cheap and fun to make! ETA photo

We're skipping bouts. Guys will have pocket squares instead. Mom really wants a wrist corsage (which I find prom-y, but to each their own), so she is getting one and a pin-on for FMIL.

We're not doing bouts (I actually asked FH if he wanted to do them the other day and he said NO! Easy enough). Not sure on the corsages yet, but likely will not be doing those either.

Yes. I am skipping all of that. And I was going to skip bouquets too, but one of my aunts wants to get me a bouquet as a gift and she works in a flower shop. I will accept it since that's a gift.

I made my boutonnieres for my FH and his 3 GM but my grandparents will just be getting a pin cost me $1.50 each and it goes with my theme. I could not justify the money on corsages and boutonnieres that no one will remember. At least my grandparents will have something they can wear again and hopefully remind them of a happy day.

Lol!! @augustskies I don't track my DIY project expenses either but if I did I'm sure it would be quite shocking

We're giving corsages to moms and grandmothers because they're really the only ones who care. Skipping bouts for the GM and only getting for groom

We're doing them, but then only getting flowers for bouquets and the ceremonial archway. None for the centerpieces.

I got silk flowers and all the supplies needed and DIY'ed all the boutonnieres and corsages. But I also DIY'ed all the bouquets as well. (The only real flowers at my wedding were the centerpieces and that's because they were included in the venue's wedding package).

Only groomsmen, my dad, bridesmaids and of course, us had flowers. We preferred that money to be seen rather than worn. Our parents and grandparents didn't miss them.

Doing mini bouquets for moms (both sets of parents divorced so there are 4 moms) and bouts for the 4 dads and groomsmen. I don't have grandparents but FH does and we decided no flowers for them to save money. I don't think they'll care.

ETA also doing our own centerpieces but getting mini vases/flowers for cocktail hour tables.

We skipped. No one noticed. Everyone knew who the groom was and the other participants.
