Did i forget how to eat or something??

Emly, on June 7, 2019 at 3:08 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 9

Happy Friday everyone Smiley heart

So this is nothing new and I know I'm not the only one who goes through this, BUT, how do you eat when you have anxiety Smiley xd

Ok let me explain: I have a few things coming up today and tomorrow that I've been super nervous for the past month or so and this week I have been an anxiety filled mess so much so that I haven't eaten more than a Hot Pocket in the last three days Smiley xd !! This happens with every single "event", I anticipate it, then stress about it, and then I wont eat for days..

Obviously on my wedding day I need to eat, the whole week leading up to my wedding i need to eat, every single day of my life I need to eat LOL. Soo do you guys have tricks or tips for me and other nervous-nellys to EAT SOMETHING besides forcing myself to eat??

(Disclaimer: I am healthy, I go to the doctor, nothing is wrong with me except my crippling anxiety and I am working on something to help with that - I just don't do "prescription medication" I feel (for me) it does more harm than good)

Set timers in your phone to sit down, take some deep breaths, and eat something. I know you said you don’t want to force yourself to eat but you’re going to have to. Not eating can cause anxiety to be worse. I say this as someone who struggled with an eating disorder for 15 years and knows what lack of nutrition can do to your body.

Hey! I have anxiety too, so I feel ya. You could try drinking healthy fruit smoothies and juice to get nutrients and calories until your anxiety subsides 😊 just make sure to have a variety of fruits in your drinks. My favorite smoothie has raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and spinach or kale (you can’t really taste the greens, and they’re super healthy for you). I blend it in a VitaMix, starting with water, ice, spinach, and the bananas, then add the fruits when the former is all blended.

Timers is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Thank you for your suggestion Smiley heart

Yes!! Exactly what I came here to say! But I wanted to add one thing...

Add a protein powder to your smoothies! Whey, plant based, whatever your preference is. I personally love the brand Orgain and their chocolate flavored one is so yummy! Especially when paired with bananas, peanut or almond butter, and spinach. 😋

Meal prepping should help too! but i love the idea other PPs said here about smoothies -- those are so easy and nutritious to have when you don't have the time to actually sit down and eat.

or if you can even just eat something small in smaller intervals rather than having a large meal, that works too. setting timers and reminders is helpful along with having the meal readily at hand with you.

I've drank Gatorade for way more meals than I would prefer to admit to.

I’m basically doing protein/meal shakes for breakfast leading up to the wedding so it’s one less thing I have to think about. Plus the vitamins and minerals are doing wonders for my hair (woo!). I think the one I have is Nature’s Bounty. It’s like a protein shake and multi vitamin all in one!

i shake it up with almond milk in a shaker bottle. Boom, instant nutrition. I wouldn’t suggest it for every meal forever, but it’s getting me through a period in my life when I’m too stressed and busy to meal plan and meal prep.
