Did i rush my dress decision??

Amanda, on July 20, 2021 at 12:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
So I got engaged in April and am planning my wedding for July 16, 2022. My mom was really excited for dress shopping and I let her talk me into going dress shopping in May. Well, I ended up going to one shop and tried on 5-6 dresses in about 45 minutes and ended up buying a beaded/tulle a-line/ball gown that day. I like the dress but I am feeling like I may have rushed and got caught up in the moment. The whole process was not what I envisioned and I feel like I missed out on what the dress shopping experience was supposed to be. And I'm not sure if I should have pi ked the dress I chose or kept looking. I'm normally a very indecisive person and I'm just worried that this was an impulse buy and I'm not going to love it when my dress comes in.

Can anyone else relate? I'm consider going shopping again but I feel horrible admitting that maybe this was an impulse and I might want a different dress. Smiley sad

I think it's worth waiting and seeing how you feel once your dress comes in and you put it back on.

I felt some regrets after purchasing my dresses because social media kept showing me wedding dresses, and I felt like I missed out. But I put them back on and remembered how beautiful I felt in them and that I bought them because I loved them.

I'd definitely say wait if you can and stop looking at other dresses. It's so easy to compare and contrast when you're seeing so many, but they all won't give you the same feeling.

I felt similarly after my appointment because I did kind of "jump into" saying yes quickly. It was the dress I was comparing everything else to, but my mom and grandma weren't super supportive and ruined the vibe. When I was finalizing the purchase I kept second guessing myself, and figured I only said yes because I was dreading another appointment with my mom and grandma or telling them they weren't welcome at another. Once I got home I looked at my dress online by myself and sent photos to people who I knew would be more supportive and I fell back in love with it.

I would go out and see if you find something else you like better. It’s worth trying just to see! Worst case you buy a new dress and still have to pay for the old one but you may be able to get partially refunded or maybe order a new dress from the same store. You have plenty of time to order a new one if you want!

I would definitely look at other dresses. See what's out there.

Many people in past posts on the search have said they didn’t love the rushed dress purchases. Have you bought the dress already? If not, keep looking until you find the one you don’t want to take off. If you have purchased, wait until it comes in and try to sell it on preownedweddingdresses.com or donate to a local charity dealing with wedding dresses for the less fortunate.

I went to David's Bridal 6 times and went to most of the local bridal shops in 2 counties. It felt like a chore. It got demoralizing. I'm just glad that both my mom and grandma got to be there when I picked my dress.

If you found the right one in an hour, that's awsome! One less thing to worry about. You know when you know, whether you've tried on 1 or 100
