LISA, on December 18, 2019 at 10:38 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
Did anyone change how they cared for their face care regime leading up to the wedding? If so what did u do differently. I am thinking of changing my face moisturizer etc.

The only skincare routine thing I did differently close to the wedding were face masks! I bought both of them for roughly $2 each at Walmart

I got several chemical peels months leading up to the wedding, use a glycolic acid wash, sunscreen, and moisturizer. Chemical peels you look crazy for like 3-4 days, but once you come out on the other side your skin is glowing and beautiful!!!

Personally, I wouldn’t change up my routine too much in case I would have a reaction. I would definitely focus on exfoliating more in the months/weeks leading up to clear my skin so I have a nice bright complexion for the day. I’d also consider adding in regular trips to a cosmetologist for facials to help with this! I’d also ask the cosmetologist for advice on what I should be doing more/less of!

Finally, I would start drinking waaaay more water. I’m terrible for not drinking enough. When I remember to, I can really feel the difference in my skin Smiley smile

I did! This was something I needed to do anyway though. I went from barely any moisturizer to now having a routine of toning twice a day and using eye creams and moisturizers at both night and the morning. I also plan on treating myself to a facial closer to the wedding as a present to myself! Also, WATER. so much more water now.

    I have a funny story.

I started making changes to my skincare regimen a few months ago by adding those Olly skin supplement gummies that you can get from Target or Sephora. The ones I have are hyaluronic acid and collagen. Also the ones for hair (with biotin). I take them every morning.

I never noticed any changes, but when I came home to my parents' for Thanksgiving last month after being away for nearly a year, my mom asked me if had gained any weight (I hadn't). Before I could admonish her for being so rude, she said "Oh, your face looks rounder and fuller." For awhile, I couldn't figure out why that was. But the next day, it suddenly dawned on me--it was those gummies! The collagen ones were making my 36 year old face look fuller and younger!

YMMV obviously, but I thought I'd share.

Yes! I just started taking way more care of my skin, hair & nails. My hair care I started 18 months out. My skincare I started 6 months out. I started getting professional treatments (facials, microderm, microneedling, dermaplanning, botox, lash lift & tint) and developed a better skincare routine at home. In the mornings, I use two cleansers, toner, serums, moisturizer & eye cream. In the evenings, I use one cleanser, serum and a thick moisturizer. I have a mask I use 2-3 times a week that helps with hydration too. I started sleeping on a silk pillowcase, eating healthier, taking vitamins for my skin, and drinking more water too. I saw HUGE improvements!

I agree with one if the other posters. You don't want to do anything too drastic right before your wedding. I started about 6 months out so I knew how my skin would react and stuck with that leading up to the wedding. I will most likely get a hydrating facial a month before, which is something I have already done too.
