Here is my dress and the sash I bought to go with it. It needed something. My dress would have been way too plain without it.

As for your dress, it might be rather difficult to add a sash with a corset back? I don't know - I've never seen anyone do that.

I work in a bridal salon and typically a sash doesn't look right with a corset back as is, because it competes with the laces in the back, but I have seen some girls have a seamstress sew the belt/sash into the seams where the laces/loops are, so that you still have the belt look in the front without having anything cover the laces.

I actually had david's bridal take the stones off of a sash and attach them directly to the dress (I dont like the idea of a ribbon hanging in the back). So you could find stones on a sash you love and have a seamstress take the stones off and sew directly to the dress...

Weird that you work in a bridal shop and haven't often seen a sash sewn onto a dress.

I would add a sash to your dress if I was you, but if you insist, I'd say maybe you can sew it on it and stop where the "crosses" of the corset begins. Just so the sash doesn't cover the "crosses" because then I think it looks weird. My reception dress came with a sash inbuilt in it.

Actually it doesn't go well add a sash on the corset dress, maybe you could have some beadings scattered on the waistline, which will looks much better in my mind.

Here is my sash. I ordered it in champagne. My dress has alot of sparkle up top but when the consultant put the sash on it looked awesome!

Well i have two dresses, so I also have two sashes. One clips on and the other ties, I'm not sure if you would like it to tie in the back and cover the beading in the back.

I'm planning on doing the same thing Laine did which is having the seamstress sewn the belt onto the dress, but stopping at the zipper seams. I don't want a ribbon hanging off the back of my dress either. In fact, if it works I may drop the belt to the hips instead of the waist to make my waist look longer (I'm pretty busty and hippy so my waist is pretty short. Smiley sad

Here is my sash - just a plain peachy coloured grosgrain ribbon!

To answer your question, yes, I would sew it on. I wore a sash/fabric belt on the dress I wore to my engagement shoot, and in some of the photos it had slid about and got all twisted, which looked terrible. If it had been sewn flat it wouldn't have moved around in photos.
