Did you announce your engagement on social media before telling your family?

Heck no! My Mom would have karate chopped me in the neck!!

We told very close people first (which was maybe like 5 or 6) and posted it on FB. A lot of our family members have never been there for us throughout our relationship so they had to find out like everyone else. A lot of them still haven't been personally told yet, and I have no intentions of doing so. I am not inviting a lot of family (we're having an intimate wedding) and neither is FH, so what's the point of us telling people about our wedding if we don't intend on inviting them, you know? But yeah, it's totally cool for us. It works out great!!!

Hahaha! Well that's good you avoided that outcome, then, and told her first!

Innocent. We made sure and hit every single house of our immediate families the day he proposed and then we posted it for our extended families and friends.

Our parents were the first to know, but they knew it was coming (he had the ring for 2.5 months before proposing!!!) Also told my brother, grandparents FH's grandparents, and aunts & uncles, but they all knew it was happening. We waited a few days before posting on FB, because I wanted to make sure we told all of the ones we needed to first.

I am totally innocent because when my parents found out I was moving to another state last year via social media, I had to do damage control. This time I'm totally in the clear on this one.

My family knew before I did, as well as my best friend. He asked their permission the day of (my family kind of have a hard time keeping secrets lol) what really made me emotional was that he not only asked my mom but he asked my two brothers and sister (I don’t have a relationship with my father)

My whole immediate family knew because he had already talked to them and I still live with them so we went back to my house after he proposed and celebrated with them! We posted on social media that same night lol!

One of our friends posted about it before we had the chance to call anyone...

Nope. I've never announced it on social media. i'm not that person. I've mentioned it a time or two but a big announcement? nope

Innocent! Our parents knew before my FH did it, anyway. But we were on vacation in Reykjavik, so we held off with the social media until we got back home.
