After the many phone calls to my family,FH posted it on his Facebook page and announced it with my ring finger “Saying I’ve hit a home run”.

We were supposed to go on this Cruise for 5 days. We’ve been waiting for it for months. Finally when the time came, We had a friend drove us to Jacksonville to board the boat. We gave our bags to be boarded, but for some reason he didn’t want to give them 1 of his bags. I never put 2 and 2 together. We went in to check in, this is where it got bad. When we got there, they told us that the paperwork “that we confirmed” over the phone wasn’t sufficient for my now fiancé to board. His passport didn’t come in time. So long story short. They wouldn’t let him in. So I didn’t go either. Called our friend half way back home to come get is. Then we realized that we had to do something! We’ve already taken the time off from work. We drove our friend home, then we headed to Tampa for a get away. Now, he had to improvise since his original plan was sabotaged. We found a nice hotel and booked it with our supposed “cruise spending money”. He had try to re-plan it all. Imagine how hard it would be with me next to him almost at every moment. Somehow he managed to do it all. He pressured me to wear something nice to go to my favorite restaurant Seasons 52. Somehow he had an arrangement with both the chef and the waiter. At the end of our meal, he popped the question and it was magical. I of course said yes, my family already knew. I called and told them the news. In the morning, I posted it on Facebook.

So, this is how it happened.. I unfortunately had a broken foot, so John had to improvise with his plan. He took me to Asheville, NC to the Biltmore Mansion. He bought the perfect bottle of wine from the Biltmore Village and bought a blanket as well. We went back to the estate, where John parked my wheelchair and piggy backed me up the garden lawn to a beautiful spot where we watched the sunset over the mountains during the time of the Christmas illumination. We were drinking the wine with some romantic conversation and then, it happened, he asked me to marry him. I was in shock. My response was "OMG, is this really happening?? YES! I love you!!!". This was truly the most romantic proposal I could have imagined. After, he piggybacked me back down the mountain to my chair and we went to dinner then on the Christmas light tour of the Biltmore Estate. This was amazing. The best day of my life. The first day of our lives.

Wow sounds like it was an amazing night!! That's awesome that you had so many people there to celebrate with right after! Love the photos, your ring is gorgeous!

I did not announce on social media, and had a number of friends give me a very hard time about it. I don't regret not posting it, but would warn any couple who might choose to go down the same path to be prepared for the fact that people may be unhappy with that decision (especially people who hear through to grapevine).

We announced it on Facebook and Instagram after we called and texted family members and friends who were not in attendance to the party my fiancé proposed at. His father and my mother also posted the photos and videos they took during and after the proposal a few hours after.

Oh wow, what a story!! So glad you were still able to have your getaway in Tampa! That's so amazing that he was able to improvise and come up with a new plan! Sounds like it was a beautiful moment!
