FH made a post on Facebook a few hours after we got engaged, once we had already told our families Smiley smile

We told close family members and friends first. Then we posted it on Facebook just as we were going to sleep lol so that way our phones could blow up while we were sleeping.

We got engaged while on vacation but I was going to go back to the US to visit my family right afterwards, so I decided to surprise them in person (since everything is a call or text when you live so far away). Besides my FMIL and FFIL and my close friends, we waited to spread the news until after that. So like a week later! 😊

His whole family was there, so I just had to tell my family which is just a few people. I posted it on social media right after. I was too impatient lol.

No big announcement on my end. We told immediate family right after it happened. I posted the pic in my profile on social media about a month or two afterwards. A few days later, my FH posted a different pic which showed the ring, that's how social media found out. I don't like people too much in my business, so I don't put much out there.

I made a post after about 3 months. I waited until the ring came, and the wedding was already in the works. I didn't think their was a need to post to all my friends and family. It is a small wedding so I didn't want too many questions or invite requests.

We were on vacation and called our parents immediately. It just so happened that we were being joined on vacation by my sister and some friends the next day so we waited to tell them in person. I sent a text to my brother and other close friends before my fiancee posted "she said yes!" on Facebook. We've been together 8 years so got a lot of "about time" comments LOL. I did not post a pic of my ring. I wanted social media to be about the love and not about the size of my ring.

Didn't post on social media until the day after our wedding with a sneak peak photo from our photographer.

FH had his parents record his proposal but it was on the top deck of a cruise ship. They didn't have the light from the camera on the phone since they didn't want me to know they were recording so it's super dark. He posted it on Facebook anyway.

My Fiance Jay Jr. And I shared our Engagement on Facebook and some said congratulations. Some others were all like wow and I know they didn't mean it in a good way.
How do you deal with half your family and friends being happy for you and the other half who has disowned you and all they have to say is Negative.
I don't know how to feel.I miss having my dad in my life and I want him to walk me down the isle but he wont even speak to me. I guess its just best to drop the ones who are toxic for you.Any Suggestions or support would be helpful. I just feel so torn about everything.

I did share a picture of the ring but not how it was done. He is cute and quirky so the way he did it was perfect.

We told family and friends first then started wedding planning. We got our venue, bridal party, guest list and save the dates done. We then changed our relationship status about 3 months later lol. So no we never posted a proposal picture. 10 months after it all I did post some engagement pictures, where my ring was shown.
