Did you change dresses?

Blair, on May 11, 2021 at 4:18 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

Did you change dresses at your reception? I'm content with wearing my wedding dress all night, but I don't want to get to a point where I'm uncomfortable. Anyone wish they had backup dress while at their reception?

I purchased another dress to change into and then ended up wanting to stay in my wedding dress all night.

I think long as I have a comfortable pair of shoes I'll be able to make it through the night in my dress.

Comfortable shoes are key. I wore flip flops at the end of the night

I only wore my one wedding dress but i definitely see the appeal of changing because it's easier to move around in a slimmer or shorter dress

Im wearing a reception outfit during the last half of my reception. After dinner and 1hr after dancing starts we will do bouquet toss & such. That’s when I will change.

I will be changing during the 2nd half of our reception. I plan to be on the dance floor all night, so I wanted to make sure I’m comfortable and able to move freely.

I think changing shoes will be enough to keep me comfortable. I totally understand the reasons why people do choose 2, and if they can afford to/want to/think they need to then I say go for it!

But I personally decided against 2 for several reasons:

    1. My dress is a ballgown. When else will I get to wear a huge dress like that?

    2. It's the only day I get to wear this very expensive dress. Only wearing it for half the time seems a bit... wasteful.

    3. I know people who changed - one even did it several times! The night already is so short. Spending 20 minutes to get out of one dress and into another is time away from my guests that I don't want to take.

I was considering a second dress, but I realized that what I kept looking at and loving was a dress that had the design elements that I love about my ceremony dress. So I decided what's the point in buying a second dress when I love the first one so much that I just keep looking for it all over again? Plus, I spent so much money on my wedding dress and I'll never get to wear it again, I might as well wear it.

I'm going to alter it to make the skirt removable and then wear white formal pants along with the top of my dress for the reception.
