Did you dye your wedding dress?

Legacy, on May 18, 2012 at 1:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Just wondering if anyone dyed their wedding gown before or after the ceremony. I'm dying to dye my dress gold. I do love it but I'm not interested in being too traditional. FH actually wanted me to buy a red dress. Has anyone done this or am I the only maniac lol?

Here's a pic of my dress and the same dress dyed black.

Was it dyed or was it made with black fabric? I'd be scared to dye my wedding dress! How are you dying it gold? Like metallic gold?

I don't know Jen...I'm thinking about it but haven't really looked into it. Part of me is paranoid, but another part of me is like "f" it and go for it. I just think it would look better in gold, esp since my girls dresses are ivory.

That dress was purchased as black but I like how it looks in black. I'm thinking of this type of gold on the top. It would be great if I could leave the top ivory and have the bottom in gold.

What material is your dress made out of? I don't think I'd attempt to dye my dress myself, but I understand wanting some color (I always thought I'd wear a red dress, but when it came down to it, I stuck with white). What about dying the crinoline underneath? It's safer and there are several DIY instructions out there (including on Hayley's profile). I thought about it but ran out of time.

I'm thinking about getting my TTD dress cut off so it's knee length so I can wear it again...maybe I'll look into dying it too (it was $99).

I haven't, and probably won't, but I would love to dye some of the ruffles purple, not necessary the whole dress. Now you've got me thinking again!

I think my dress is silk but honestly I can't remember. It feels like a silk/satin combo. I wouldn't' dare do it myself, I'd have it done professionally but it could still turn into a disaster.
