We got engaged at home. It was very sweet. My bonus kids were with us and they started "arguing" over a stuffed dog. I was washing dishes and turned around to tell them to stop, but FI came down the stairs singing Brian McKnight"Could you be the one for me?". I had never heard it before, and didnt realize what was going on until I caught the words he was singing. He got down on one knee with the box and asked me to marry him. I said "yes"!!! I cried and he hugged and kissed me. It was perfect!

A while ago one of my girlfriends, who is a South Asian clothing designer, made an outfit for me out of one of my mom’s old saris. To get me out of the house, she had planned a photoshoot to photograph me wearing the outfit. When I got back, my sister-in-law asked me to help her in the backyard so I followed her onto the deck that leads to the back. It turns out that while I was out, my fiancé, Loi, my other friends, and both of our families decorated our backyard. They were all sitting in the back yard. When I walked down the deck stairs, my niece handed me a bouquet and lead me to a circle of tiny lights on our patio. My fiancé walked up from behind me to some music. My best friends then popped up and they joined my fiancé in a Bollywood dance mini flashmob. Loi then did a solo dance performance to another Bollywood song. Then he and I danced to Perfect by Ed Sheeran, and after that he proposed in both Hindi and English
