Did you hire a florist??

Mandy, on July 6, 2017 at 5:05 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

I'm having trouble deciding whether to hire a florist or not.

We are DIYing our own center pieces so I won't need a florist for that.

However, I would like professional looking flower bouquets and maybe some decorations for the venue, Ex: guest sign in tables, sweetheart table, etc.

My friend recommended getting bouquets and flowers from a grocery's flower department to save money, just wondering if anyone has done that. or how do you save money on flowers?

I don't know if a florist is required for what i am looking for since they are pretty simple!

This is a lot of work. You're going to want to have time to take care of last minute details plus relax with your FS leading up to the wedding. Leave whatever you can to the pros. Believe me, it'll be worth the money to know it's all taken care of and you don't need to lift a finger to do it.

I saved money on flowers by having fake bouquets for the bridesmaids and only having my bouquet be real flowers. I didnt have to hire a florist for this, I just went in the shop to place the order. Having fake flowers really saved me a ton!

We did grocery store flowers, and I thought the price was VERY reasonable.

We called and set up a meeting with their florist. During the meeting we gave her the budget we wanted to stick to and showed her some inspiration pics. The only downside, was that she was a little difficult to get a hold of during the planning process, but in the end, she got the job done and delivered and set up on time.

Yes. But my venue is located in a city where you can find a florist every 5 ft lol my florist is charging $7 per vase (22 in) total of 18 vases and 800 for beautiful arrangements like this. They are literally exact. Delivery charge is 80 bucks. I feel like it is totally worth it.

We are diy-ing our centerpieces without flowers because of me and my family's crazy allergies to flowers. DIY-ing bouquets and boutonnieres take a lot of time. I attempted it and swelled up like a ballon before I could get three done. I think it's worth it to get a professional for personal flowers at the very least. I got my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids flowers, 4 corsages, and 8 boutonnieres for a very decent price!

I hired a florist. I would definitely recommend hiring one. It's a lot more work than you think. I also definitely wouldn't want to be worried about flowers the night before and day of.

I would definitely hire a florist for bouquets. I intended to DIY my own centerpieces and just have florist do bouquets and bouts/corsages. But then found out she could do the centerpieces for about the same cost as I was going to spend DIY!

Bouquets are definitely an art. It meant a lot to me to have a nice bouquet, with the personal touches so definitely worth it to me. And it was only $100 which was perfect.

We got our flowers through a grocery store florist, since we had simple needs as well. The flowers arrived on time and were lovely, but the florist we worked with was impossible to get in touch with when we were trying to finalize things, and the stress was not worth the money we saved. If I could go back, I would have gone with the pricier independent florist who was more attentive.

I hired a florist, but just for bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. We are ordering more flowers through them for our DIY decorations. We made the centerpieces, but they are actually arranging the flowers and packing them for us since it is a two hour drive for us to the venue. In total we are spending about $200 for flowers.

I did. But the most my biggest priorities for my wedding are my dress, my bouquet and good food. I've had friends who've done grocery store, fake, paper, etc. They all looked great, so I think it's just preference. It also depends on what your wedding weekend looks like. I won't have a lot of time to arrange flowers.

I hired a florist to do 2 arbor decorations, all bouquets, all boutonnieres, and she's also ordering my DIY centerpieces. We decided in DIY centerpiece because we are literally going to throw eucalyptus on the table and a few candles and call it a day lol so we don't need anything to be arranged for that. I personally don't want to bare the responsibility of putting together something as special as my bouquet and my FH boutonniere.

I hired a florist because I'm too busy & tired to do anything. The last thing I want to think about is having to put together bouquets when I could be relaxing & stress free.

I got one for peace of mind. Also DIYing centerpieces but they're doing bouquets and bouts. We have a small order so a lot of florists wouldn't take it but I found one who will provided I pick it up. I love working with flowers but the idea of putting together boutinerres the morning of sounded so stressful.

My advice would be to get a florist. Remember that someone is going to have to spend the time the day before (and sometimes, the morning of) putting your bouquets together. When you DIY...that's you. I'm the daughter of a florist and worked there for 9 years (yes I started young), but neither my mom nor I will be doing the flowers for my bouquets (or my CP's, for that matter). For at least your bouquets, you will get the best results if you let an expert, who knows flowers and how they react to their environment, handle them. I don't say this as an advocate for the industry- my family is no longer in it so I have no reason to be- but for your sanity. If your budget doesn't allow for it, which I completely understand, know that you will be putting in a good amount of work.

I hired a florist and now that I'm a week away from my wedding, I'm so glad I did. When I started wedding planning I had grand ideas about DIYing, but as we get closer to the day of there is SO much more to do than I anticipated; having to do florals definitely would have pushed me over the edge with stress. Plus I got a sample centerpiece a few weeks ago and it was far more spectacular than anything I could've done.
