Did you know he/she was going to propose?

Im still not offically engaged, but ever since we went looking and he told me he put money down on a ring we've been planning. So I know he's going to I just don't know when 😁 or how (but that's ok because I like to leave somethings to surprise) So who knew it was going to happen? Or knows it's...

Tell me your proposal stories!

I had no idea We didn't even talk about rings. I figured it would be coming sometime next year since we've been sinking all of our money into completely remodeling the house we bought a year and a half ago.

We went to dinner on Mt. Washington (hello Pittsburgh brides!) on the 4th anniversary of the day that we met in Las Vegas, rode the Duquesne incline afterwards then walked out to the overlook and put quarters in the viewing machine. While I was taking my turn he pulled out the ring and when I turned around, he wrapped his arms around me and asked me to marry him. I was completely blown away. Up until that point all I could think about was how cold it was and how bad I had to pee. Lol. Of course I called my mother bawling. But my parents already knew it was coming - he'd asked for their blessing when we were out for Thanksgiving. I love this man!

We talked about getting married for almost a year before he proposed. I had mentioned it would be perfect if he proposed while his mom and sister were in town for an early Christmas. He said for financial reasons he couldn't get the ring until spring. Then he asked while they were in town and I was completely caught off guard! I even screamed when I saw the lights that said 'will you marry me?'. It was the most amazing day of my life!

I had no real indication but somehow still knew. Intuition I guess.

I planned a trip for us to go to a little town in our state that is known for their Christmas displays. We went the weekend before Christmas, It was meant to by my Christmas present to him, but he kind of stole my thunder (Not that I was upset about it)

We have never looked at rings or anything like that. We both work and live together so we spend pretty much all of our time together, or at least we know where the other is 99% of the time. I have no idea when he bought the ring but I guess it was hidden in our basement for about a month before he proposed.

A few days before his mom started to get really excited about our little Christmas trip, she took me to get my nails done, made a dinner reservation etc. This was a bit suspicious to me, but knowing her pretty well, it wasn't all that out of character so I let it go.

The morning of, I was getting ready to go, curling my hair and picking out a nice outfit. FH comes in the room and says "Oh you're curling your hair, you're going to look so pretty, you are going to have such a good time!" Another flag. He also suggested I pulled a bottle of wine from my special occasion rack and bring it with us. . . .By this point I was pretty sure what was going on, but I got my hopes up a few years back when he planned a spur of the moment trip to Niagara falls, and was later disappointed. So I didn't want to get my hopes up just yet.

When we got there he was so anxious he couldn't sit still. He went to "get something out of the car" but really he was giving the hotel staff a heads up so they could get a candid picture of the big moment. While he was gone I realized I had forgotten my tights to wear under my skirt at home, and asked if we could run to the store we passed on the drive in to pick up another pair. He said sure, but go ahead and put the rest of your outfit on now and then we'll go get something to eat.

So on our way to the car, he brings me to this cute little spot where there were at least 10 Christmas trees all set up and started pulling me towards the smallest one. He bends over to look at it and says "Isn't this nice?" at that point he knew I was onto him and just said "Okay. . . " And that when he got down on one knee and pulled the ring out.

I just remember saying "No you are NOT!"

It was simple and sweet and exactly what I wanted.

We then went to walmart to buy tights as our first activity as fiance's .

My FH and I decided we wanted to get married this year several months ago. I knew he was saving for a ring and I sent him several pictures of styles I liked and we decided on a reasonable price range but I didn't directly tell him get this one or this style. I picked out mostly halos with a simple band or single stones with an intricate band. We talked about diamond quality and what I liked in a diamond/ring and what was most important to me ( a size and shape where the diamond looks substantial, no visible blemishes on the face and a great cut so it's super sparkly! Color didn't matter much to me since we pretty much decided it was going to be a rose gold setting and I actually like slightly pink/brown tinted stones). We knew we wanted to get married on our 3 year anniversary which is December 10th 2018. Other than that he didn't tell me how much money he had saved up, when he ordered the ring, which one he picked, or how/when he would propose.

Last weekend he told me his mom had a family dinner planned and we'd be going to there house this Sunday (the 25th). So we showed up there and his whole family was there and he had told me his mom wanted family pictures so we dressed semi nicely. When we got there he took me into their family room and there were flowers and a cake and balloons and he got down on one knee and proposed. I seriously thought it would be several more months before he had enough to get the ring so I was completely surprised. His family took pictures and recorded the whole thing so we have memories of it. After I said yes he took me to another room and told me my mother was there but she had to leave because my sister got into a fender bender and it busted her tire on the way there but he didn't want to tell me before the proposal and ruin the surprise. So even though they weren't there he had made the effort for my family to be present and it wasn't exactly what he had planned but we were still very happy. We stayed and had dinner and celebrated with his family and this weekend we will celebrate with my family!

On a side note he actually went to my mother's house one day while I was working and asked for her permission to marry me which he told me about after the proposal and I thought was adorable. I don't have a father so my mom and siblings are all the family I have other than grandparents and aunts/cousins.

The ring he picked is one I actually sent him a picture of - a rose gold halo setting with a slightly brown tinted pear shaped diamond. I love it and have been staring at it since he put it on my finger and showing it to anyone who will look.

Also hilariously it was laundry day so I got proposed to while wearing jeans and a Harley Quinn sweater I haven't worn in at least a year. Lol.

I feel like it makes it even more exciting to know it's coming! My boyfriend and I went ring shopping together so he (and I since I've never worn rings before) would have a better idea of what I'd like and we ended up designing a ring together with the first jeweler we went to. I told him he could use that or take what he knows about my style now and go with something different or tweak the ring we designed a bit if he really wanted to, but just knowing that it's going to happen sometime (hopefully) soonish is SO exciting! We've talked casually about getting married for a while, but now that I know it's seriously happening, it's so awesome. I can't wait to see how he surprises me with the proposal! It's almost like it extends the excitement of the engagement period without the stress of actually planning the wedding yet (at least on my end. I'm sure it's at least a little stressful for him 😂)

I knew that he had a ring and would eventually but I was still shocked and surprised when he did.

We spoke about getting engaged for a long time and he dropped hints to me when he finally bought the ring. I didn’t know when or how he was going to propose. Fast forward a few months, we’re at a dinner with all of our friends and family which we tend to do every year around Valentine’s Day so I wasn’t expecting anything! Then after we’ve all finished eating, he calls me up to a stage-like platform in the middle of the restaurant and asks me to marry him with our favorite Frank Sinatra song playing in the background along with a slideshow of photos of us! It was perfect.

I genuinely didn’t know he was proposing.
He recreated our first date, down to the exact restraunt and outfit he was wearing. We came home and there were flower petals and flowers lining the hallway, and my exact words were “Awe, babe!! This is such a lovely way to end a date!!” I didn’t know what was going on until I saw the ring on our dog’s bandana.

The only reason I knew he had the ring is because his identity was stolen the month before he proposed and I was helping him with his records to see when it was stolen and he had to confirm a purchase at Zales.

Yes, I had an idea. I actually overheard him telling a mutual friend that he was going to propose after a popular race that he runs each year (and I spectate). I told him that I overheard, but he still went ahead with the plan, but it fell apart about two weeks prior. He also told me when that happened, because he didn't want me to be disappointed when he didn't propose after the race We had already been shopping for rings for a few months before I overheard his plans.

After that, I knew he was going to propose at some point, but I didn't know exactly when. When it came time for us to go on our annual vacation to Ocean City, Maryland, I assumed it would happen then. He made dinner plans for later in the week, but we had a mini crisis a few days in, and he wound up proposing then.

My situation was similar to yours. We had been talking about getting engaged for a while, and one night he showed me some rings to get an idea of my preferred style. Other than that, I had no idea when/where/how, etc.

He did it while we were in Tampa, seeing Phantom of the Opera. (One of my favorite things in life!) We were walking along the river before the show started, and he stopped us and asked me. It was such a sweet day.
