Did you practice the first dance?

Did you and FH/FW practice your first dance before the wedding? I'm a terrible dancer and FH hates to dance, so I'm starting to get pretty nervous about being in the spotlight for this. Did you practice or attend lessons or anything? Share below!

I bought a Groupon for dance lessons (<$30) because neither of us dance, but don't want to do the "prom sway". I don't want it to look over-rehearsed, but more natural, like we're actually enjoying ourselves.

We did the same as Elizabeth. Prom sway with some flair. And the fade is a must! We cut all of our first dance and parent songs to about 2 minutes each.

    I think we "practiced" twice.

FH dances with me all the time....sometimes when I'm cooking & cleaning he just stops me & starts dancing. It's really romantic & a love the gesture. So I think we have the practicing pretty much covered lol

We practiced the first minute or so of the song. We should have practiced the WHOLE thing. We didn't know what to do when the song stops for a few seconds around minute 3, lol.

YES! We attended dance lessons because we didn't want to look like, as DH put it, "awkward middle schoolers shuffling around". We are both SO glad we took the classes and intend to take more even after the wedding. It's fun!

    We did dancing lessons.

I developed a balance issue midway through our wedding planning, and I was afraid of falling on my face. I think it was about $500 for 5 private lessons, and 5 group lessons. (Arthur Murray, if you have one near you)

We picked a song that was under 3 minutes, and it was just the right amount of time! We got comments on how nice our first dance was. We did a foxtrot, with a dip at the end, pretty tame stuff.

We took lessons in college (about 8 years before we got married) so we knew how to waltz. DH is good, and I enjoy it, so we managed.

We did, because we wanted to do a swing dance.

We practiced watching youtube videos to do a basic waltz. We even changed our song so that it would have an easier beat to follow lol. In the end, I got super nervous and my dress was still a little long when bustled so we did not do as great as I thought we would.

We practiced a couple of times a week 2 months before. We downloaded youtube tutorial videos on wedding 1st dance 101. It was fun, but I learned I have 2 left feet, and I ended up calling g my now husband twinkle toes LOL!! He was surprisingly very good at formal couples dancing. Don't sweat it. You will be so overcome with joy it just comes naturally.

We did practice, and took lessons. In the end though, none of that mattered. We had to alter our dance as we were out on the floor because my dress was to big and dear husband kept stepping on it. ETA: Our dance was a modified rumba

Ahh i loved mine, we had three "moves" that we did during the chorus and it was so fun. The pictures are really cute, and the videographer got to use our twirls for the video!

We had a twirl also. We couldn't use it though because we both kept stepping on my dress lol
