Did You Tip Your Pastor/officiant

Adrienne, on September 30, 2020 at 1:51 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7

Hi All!

So I know that good practice is to tip your vendors, especially if they did a great job!

Our minimony is on Saturday and I just got the fee breakout from the church secretary. This is what she sent me:

$175 cash in an envelope for Organist. $100 cash in an envelope for Sexton.
$300 cash in an envelope for Pastor (Officiant).$125 can in an envelope for Church.
I cannot tell if I should be tipping on top of this, I feel like church related vendors follow a different rule when it comes to tips than maybe a venue or caterer might? Just want to know how much cash to have on hand, since they don't want check or credit card.
Thank you all!

Gotcha. Our pastor has been pretty helpful during premarital counseling and all that, but since the church is explicitly telling us how much to give him, I couldn't really tell if that is inclusive of those services or what.

That makes sense, we were always planning on giving him something, but since the church broke out where the money would be going, I didn't know if we should give him something additional.

Well I see it as the officiant just has to marry you and I would think file the marriage license. If they act as a day of coordinator I do not think that is within the description. As someone stated $50 is fair.
