Did your Bridal Party NOT match?

A. L., on December 12, 2016 at 4:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

OK, to start with, we are not doing wedding colors, or a huge bridal party. Just a best man, maid of honor, and a flower girl.

I've been pretty resolved that since I don't care at all about wedding colors that nobody will notice or remember, that I don't need to worry about our bridal party matching. Did anyone else feel this way? I want everyone to be able to pick out their own things to wear (including my mom/sister-in-law, who aren't officially bridal party but have asked what to wear) and express their own personality.

We are kind of in that boat. The ladies in our party are wearing a black dress. Any style they would like and feel comfortable/beautiful in.

Also, it's going to be 65,000 degrees. If my maid of honor sister wants to wear a beanie with a fountain on it, that's fine.

@theD That's pretty much our stance as well. The only difference was no sparkles. I don't like the way they look in pictures. The dresses they have picked out are so stunning and they will all be able to wear them again! Love it!

I'm only going to have a MOH and 1 bridesmaid. They're wearing different dresses in different colors (same length and material), but they coordinate with the wedding colors. We both have siblings and parents who have their own special parts in our day, but they are all wearing what they choose and not necessarily matching our colors.

I asked my girls to get long dresses from the same designer in one of three shades of gray. The style they choose is up to them. I also asked for no beading/sequins/rhinestones on the dresses. The designer is Bill Levkoff and there are literally hundreds of styles they can come from!

FH and his Best Man have been best friends for like 46 years. If he shows up in khakis, that'd be fine. If he shows up in jeans, also good.

I was just wondering if other people did the same thing and how it looked. It isn't really an issue.

I picked colour/length/fabric for my girls. My mum needed me to tell her what my "vision" was for her, apparently not naked didn't jive with her. We went shopping and found a dress for her. My fmil found herself a dress

I have a huge bridal party, and only Maid and Matron of honor will have on a different dress, but all girls will wear the same color. I picked Christina Wu as my designer because she had the look I was going for, and all my girls thankfully fell in love with the same style of dress. AND I'm very serious about attire at my wedding, the moms will wear a certain color. Please do whatever makes you happy on your wedding day.

@zandria, how many you have, I had 13 and I picked the dress that goes 100 different ways and each girl was different to match they body type. I did the same for the parents. Husband mom wore gold and I put my mom in champagne. I even did colors for my VIP also.

My two SILs are my bridesmaids, and I chose two colors, and each of them chose a dress in that color. They coordinated the styles somewhat in that they are both floor-length dresses in a chiffon-type of fabric, but the colors and necklines won't match. Based on the colors they chose, I bought ties and pocket squares for their husbands (my brother and FI's sister's brother). I also bought the same ties and pocket square for the two dads. My mom is on her own. Smiley smile I would be a little wary of not telling them any direction about which colors to choose because certain colors might clash. You could choose a palate and have them choose from that?

We had a small DW, and only had MOH and BM. We picked shades of blue as our color palette and told everyone to wear any shade of blue, dress, shirt, scarf, etc... It came out perfect!

I never liked bridesmaids in the same dresses, even as a child, I was never into it. Our colors are blush, ivory, burgundy and gold so I gave my bridesmaids an option of either blush or burgundy. One chose blush and the other chose burgundy. My MOH decided she'd wear navy blue instead.

My girls are wearing a certain type of dress, but each a different color. They are representing each of the Sailor Scouts from Sailor Moon. So, Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. MOH is gonna be in Pink with a different style dress.
