The energy you have is a direct result of the foods you eat. I know that when I'm eating healthier I have more energy and don't need the caffeine in a soda to get me going in the morning. When I slack like I have been lately not only do I gain weight but I feel gross and like a slug, even if I drink tons of caffeine.

Yeah well i think what i'm going to do is stay away from mcdonalds on my lunch breaks, drink more water than what i'm alreadying drinking, stop the lipozene if it gives me any trouble, start taking some vitamins for energy, and try and do some kind of work out a couple times a week as well as eat better food. Tonight FH wanted to grab some fast food for dinner and i said "no, i'm cooking!" So like i said i'm ganna try.

Also when i went to the doctor today they decided to put me on the blood pressure medicine but its a low dosage. They said if i lose weight it'll help and i can stop taking the medicine. So now i'm ganna try extra hard for the wedding, and for my health!!

Chelsea, you have to believe in yourself and not make an excuse as to why you can't do something - if you have to - put post-its around your house, in your car, somewhere at work that you can read and be encouraged - "You can do it." "I will not eat (whatever it is you decide." "No excuses."

If you really enjoy veggies, do some research on eating clean. FH and I eat clean and allow ourselves ONE meal a week to "cheat" on something that we really enjoy - not go overboard and binge, but have two slices of pizza or whatnot.

Pack your lunches for work - use the extra time walking... around the store, parking lot, whatever.

There's so much you can do, but first THROW THOSE DIET PILLS IN THE TRASH!!

Diet pills just suck up your water weight. work out, eat right, and drink lots of water.

I think you should consult a doctor before any pills..and actually I'm generally against pills unless there is some specific medical reason, which I don't have that knowledge to know what it would be..also it sounds like you should get some books from the library or look up online the basics on how to eat healthy. I think they have sources in which you could make healthy substitutes of mcdonalds..do you work at a super walmart? It wouldn't be hard to like grab a bun, but veggies in it or whatever..or those prewrapped sandwhiches at least instead of mcdonalds.

I've lost 40 lbs and never used a single diet pill.

Replace all soda with water. Go to bed and get 8 hours of sleep, do not stay up late and watch TV. Scramble up some eggs and toast in the morning (requires 5-7 minutes extra in your morning, that's all!), bring your lunch, and eat veggies and lean protein for dinner.

Working out will increase your energy levels, not soda. Start out by walking 20 minutes after dinner instead of sitting. Only a dollar for lunch at McD's? When you eliminate the soda you drink, that will free up a few extra bucks for your daily budget and you can bring something like turkey and cheese (with or without the bread) and carrots and an apple for lunch.

It's just not going to happen any other way.

Also, I kept a note pad in my medicine cabinet in my bathroom. I weighed myself a couple of times a week and would write down my progress. It was an accountability tactic that really saved me. I don't do well with numbers and do even worse at remembering "Was I 173.5 on Tuesday, or 175.3?"

Friend of mine lost 110 lbs by eating less and trying his hand at running. Every day he went to the track and ran as far as he could - the first day, he didn't even finish 1/8 of the mile. Now, he's a marathon runner and a true inspiration. He lost the weigh in 04/05 and has kept it off.

Finally - I had a HUGE sweet tooth. I was observing Lent when I first decided to make a lifestyle change, and gave up sweets. It was REALLY hard at first, but after a week or two, it was more comfortable. My first night in college, my "dinner" was a sack of Peanut M&Ms. Second semester I started making the above changes, and I can't imagine candy as a meal anymore Smiley winking

Chelsea, I'm glad that you are looking at making the changes, but as someone who has "been there" I really encourage you to think of this as a permanent change in your habits... not just a goal for one day where you go back to old habits after you lose weight. Losing weight is SO much harder when you get older, and the habits we form in our 20s are the hardest to break. My life is SO much better now that I've been practicing healthy habits, and I just want to encourage you to at least try the same!

Rachel & Co are correct too - I was going to refer you to Supersize Me, but she already did. And with anything, it's not just the calories, but the sodium, sugar and carbs. There was an article I came across a few weeks ago that pointed out the good/bad/ugly with frozen meals, but I can't find it at the moment. I'll message you if I stumble across it again.

If you're serious about losing weight, you have to push past the "diet" mindset and make healthy lifestyle changes. I've tried various diet pills (I think I might have tried Lipozene or Lipofuze at some point) and diets like Medifast. IF you lose weight on the diet, it will come back (usually is spades) when you go back to "normal" habits.

I had some good luck with sparkpeople.com as someone else mentioned. It helped me to track my intake and be more accountable for what I did. I have found that Weight Watchers is my saving grace in this area. It really encourages those healthy decisions and changes. I've actually stuck with it now for almost eight months. The best part is I'm NOT dieting! I still drink, just not as much or as often. I still each baked goods but not whenever I feel like it. I'm not starving and I have more energy to workout because I'm eating better and working out. It helps me sleep better, too. If you are one who needs support, I recommend Weight Watchers or spark!

It's $40 per month. I think it's better than what I was spending on things that didn't work (like diet pills and meal replacement shakes and crap) and hoping for a miracle. When you reach your goal weight you are free as long as you weigh in monthly and remain within two pounds of your goal weight. I've lost 25 pounds and I'm getting close to my goal. I'm on a budget, but I view this as an investment in myself. I feel great-healthy and energetic. It's so worth it for me!

    Chelsea,

I lost over 50 lbs when I was younger STRICTLY by just stopping soft drinks COMPLETELY. Like, none at all. I had the motivation to do it because of my severe migraines that were causing me to blackout. Just drink water, nothing else. You'll get used to it eventually and you'll probably even start to like it. I can't drink soft drinks now without feeling like "that's so strong, it almost tasted like it was alcoholic."

Also, how frequently do you eat? You should at least eat three meals a day - but don't go crazy on the portions. Small portions, three meals. That keeps your metabolism going where when you don't eat all day then eat A LOT that night or A LOT the next day, you're doing more harm than good.

I've tried diet pills when I was younger. None of them worked. The prescription medication I'm on for seizures now is supposed to also make me lose weight. It's not doing that. I don't trust pills.

Just my experience - hope it gives some insight.

    good luck!

I recommend Cellucor. You can find them at any GNC. They're are I think three different types of Cellucor and they have the pills as well as the powder. I recommend the pills. My fiance is using the Cellucor D4 Thermal shock. He's only been on it a few days and you can already notice the difference. He is also eating only baked foods and meats (ie. chicken, fish, meat) as well as lots of greens and veggies. He drinks diluted gatorade to knock the sugar intake down and lots and lots of water. I know that they make you sweat and they also give you energy and the great thing is that you dont have to take five or six pills like other diet supplements. You only take two for the entire day. I bought them from the military base that my brother was stationed at but like i said, any GNC will have them. I got two bottles for $40 at the base, but at the regular stores, one 60 count bottle will run you about $34 (a month supply) and one 120 count bottle (a 2 month supply) will run you about $60.

I have been on every diet you can think of, and I've tried my fair share of diet pills. You always gain the weight back... nothing like the natural way.

After giving birth to my daughter last may... I was at 258lbs... since I've lost 78lbs to date with another 40lbs to go by my wedding next year. It is possible.. It is all about motivation and determination. Weight loss is psychological... People may get the lap-band, and gastric bypass but, it is all mental stuff... those are quick fixes but you have to really really want to make the lifestyle change.

I lost the weight from working out at the gym 4 - 5 times a week strictly cardio at LA-fitness every morning around 6am... now keep in mind I have two small children a full-time job and taking 12 credits (4 classes) in college... also with the help of my fitness-pal app on my android i was able to enter my food throughout the day.. I cut out pop and fast food, more whole grain. It's portion control and healthier substitutes.
