Different Themed Tables at Wedding Reception

Mama Bear, on May 30, 2013 at 6:05 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 22

Hi, this is my first time posting anything, but know that I would get some great feedback from all of you Smiley winking Ok, here is my idea - my FH and I met online and we created a storybook of all of our emails to each other....so, our idea for our wedding reception is to make it "Our Storybook" theme where we would have each table be different themes based on romantic fictional couples that mean something to us. Example:

Table 1 theme is: Tarzan and Jane

Table 2 is: Doctor Who and Rose Tyler

Table 3 is: Richard Collier and Elise McKenna (Somewhere in Time)

and ect.....

The centerpieces are going to reflect the theme of the table but incorporate our wedding colors, which are blues, purples and whites. With each table decorated differently do you think it would be overwhelming to guests or just not look right? I have it all in my head but sometimes when you actually have it infront of you it looks different than they way you saw it in your head. lol. Any help or suggestions would be awesome!!!

I am doing kind of theme table but with the places that we have been traveling in our first year together (we are from different countries), so FH's family and my family will know a little bit of the city/towns we have been. I am still working on the idea but I think i will keeping the same centerpieces just with the pics of the town/city names.

Love this idea. It's personal which makes it extra special.

@ Jessica. We're doing the same table themes are you. We got vintage postcards of each of the cities we traveled to together, and on the back we wrote a note as though we'd written the postcard when we were there (talking about what we loved and signed it with the date we were there).

I absolutely loove the creativity. I think its a nice touch and your guests will like it as well. You can definitely do so much with that. How exactly will you decorate this to reflect the characters? or the Era of the love stories you mentioned? So like Tarzan and Jane the whole cave man jungle thingy, Dr. Who has o do with time travel? Wow sounds fun. Please post pics Smiley winking

I really like the idea. I have toyed with the idea of doing Disney couples for our tables because I'm a big Disney fan.

That does sound really awesome! But just keep in mind that with different themes for every table, the centerpieces could start to get pricey versus where people are using vases, etc. they can buy in bulk. Unless you're using items you already have or you're super savvy (I give you creative credit because you came up with the idea in the first place... so I'm sure you could make it work).

I don't think it will be overwhelming- if anything it would give your guests a reason to walk around to each table and check them out.

I like themed tables so I love your ideas. I would keep the table linens to 2 colours max if you are having different centerpieces though, just to tie everything together.

That's definitely cute! My fiancé and I were thinking about doing that for our Atlanta themed tables but we couldn't really think of anything Smiley tongue

Thanks Michelle C.! That is what I was trying to figure out too.....What color linens to do that would go with each theme. I was thinking white table cloth and chair covers with Aqua blue napkins and chair sash. Think that would work?
