Different way to RSVP? Opinions?

Spike, on November 26, 2011 at 2:57 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

Soooooo i'm not sending out RSVP's with the invites cause we have had TOO MANY people to tell us that it's a waste of money because no one sends them back anymore

and me and Fh was talking guest list and how to how how many people will be there, and he suggested making a Facebook event page for it...

is that a good idea?????????

yay or nay?

Great idea! I know a couple that did a reception only, and their RSVP was through Facebook. The only issue that I have is this, what happens with the guests not on Facebook?

Well honestly every person invited has 1, except older people in the family and of course since their family, we can contact them

I probably wouldn't use facebook, but we are using the wedding wire RSVP system and also putting our phone numbers on the invite so people can go online or call us.

We plan on using our website that we have through Wedding Wire... other options will be email and calling us personally.

I don't think FaceBook is all that great... but then again, it's whatever works for YOU.

Edited to add: We're also keeping our older guests in mind that like to keep things traditional and sending them RSVP cards.

Awesome! I say go for it. The only reason that I am using RSVP cards is because they came in my DIY invitation kit. My guests can still RSVP online(WW).

They can be a waste of paper because it is more convenient to get on the computer or call rather than driving to the post office and standing in line for a stamp.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Twelve years ago my soon to be sister in law didn't send out RSVP cards. Their guests RSVP'd by phone. She said it worked great. I plan on doing the same, only adding my email address, as well. I think it'd a great way to cut down on costs. I have mixed feelings about Facebook. In my experience, Facebook invites are easily overlooked, but it's also a great convenience. I say go with what works for you and your fiance!

We will use wedding wire website and our cellphones for RSVP. First, because it's the most cost effective and also because we might leave to Puerto Rico two weeks before the wedding and we have to bring our final head count 3 days before the wedding.

I'd go with WW, email and phone. With the new facebook changes, I don't go on nearly as much as I used too and it's easily ignored. Srsly--why is so-and-so reading an article at the top of my feed and pics of my brother's baby ignored.

I dont think fb is a bad idea if the majority of your guest are on Fb and your friends or Fh is. We added our wedding as an event and invited everyone on our friends list that way. There are some people we will send Rsvp to but we are also making our own invites so to make some rsvp cards wont be a big deal.

We had online RSVP through WW and we had cards. Although most of our guests are young, almost everybody returned the card. That said, it is a great way to save money and paper, if you don't send out the cards.

I wouldn't do FB, I don't think that's an appropriate outlet for wedding RSVP. As far as phone/email goes, how big is your guest list? It may become difficult to manage if you have many guests.

I'm using our website and phone as options. Not sure about facebook as their event invites seem to easily get lost by the wayside... a lot of things I've been invited to I haven't ever even seen the fb invite until someone mentions it. I'd go with an RSVP on your wedding website before I'd do facebook.
