Digital Invitations

Caitlyn, on March 12, 2019 at 2:48 PM Posted in Planning 1 11

Has anyone here done exclusively digital invitations? We will email them to folks, but wondering what others have done - just attach to an email, put the photo in the body, and do you request RSVP to your inbox or did you set up a Google doc, etc.? Thanks!

There are several websites that allow you to send evites. I would just be careful with this as a lot of times it goes to spam folders and people don’t see it. And it comes across as really casual. I would only do this if you’re having an extremely casual wedding.

I've never heard of a digital email, but if I were a guest the easiest way would be to put the photo in the body because I usually don't look a ton at attachments and I probably wouldn't go through the google doc work, I'd just email back if I was going.

Thank you! I like the idea of having them just email back as well.

Just be aware a lot of the "older generation" may not check their email or even have an email account. Ex: my dad doesn't have an email account, my mom does, but rarely checks hers. We opted for paper invites because of this reason (a lot of my family who would come aren't big internet users).

Good point! We don't really have any "older" folks coming to our wedding (no grandparents, his parents are passed, etc.) and honestly a facebook invite would probably work, lol, but we're trying to do something a liiittle more than just facebook. Good point though, and I'll make sure to check in with folks! It will be a small wedding also.

You could make a wedding website, and when you send your email invitation you could include a link to your website and say to RSVP on the website. That would be a lot easier to keep track of for you than just email RSVPs, and people would easily be able to RSVP because they'd already be on their computers and would just have to click on the link!

We are doing digital invitations! Main reason for me is that it’s 2019 & we should all be saving some trees 🙂 Physical invites end up in a trash can (except maybe for some family members who will save them as keepsakes).
All our guests are active email users & would appreciate digital invitations with a link to our website, where all wedding info & RSVP is, vs. physical invites. The last 3 weddings we attended also all had digital invites.
We will print physical invites for our parents only, as we know they would like to keep them.
Some options for sending them are:
    - Using a website like PaperlessPost, Evite, Greenvelope etc. that send very nicely presented invites with options to track RSVPs, message guests etc.
    - Emailing invites imbedded in the email with a link to RSVP, so guests can just click on the link to RSVP or go to your website for all the info

My cousin just sent out digital invites to her wedding using Paperless Post. They have a wedding website to RSVP online so the invite directs you to RSVP there. I would recommend either doing it that way, or including an image of the invite in the body of the email (definitely not an attachment) and maybe create a Google form for answering. Not sure if that's what you meant by Google Doc, but it's like filling out a quick survey and then you'll get a spreadsheet with all of the guests' responses.
