Dinner and Dancing in two separate rooms - when do you do intros?

Karolyn, on October 24, 2023 at 2:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Hi! So we're planning a wedding and the dinner is in a separate room from the ballroom (same venue, just separated by a door). We will have about 125-150 guests, which would take up most of the dining hall area. Would you have the bridal party and Mr./Mrs. introductions into the dining area (followed by speeches)? Or do you wait until after dinner? I can't seem to wrap my head around the flow of the wedding. I

I'm used to weddings where the intros lead to immediate dancing. If we did the intros into dinner, does it just lead to....dinner? lol

Thanks!

I attended a wedding recently where they did the intro and then the cake cutting, then dinner then dancing. It was a bit awkward but they also didn't have any speeches, I think if there was a speech or toast in there it would flow well.

Here's how I would do it:
    1. Intro (would keep it brief, just say everyones names and have them wave and walk into the reception)
    2. Dinner (everyone will likely be hungry)3. Speeches (wait until everyone has eaten or at least gotten their food)4. Dance (and open up the dance floor!)5. Cake/dessert (would do 1-2 hours before you have to leave, but not too soon after dinner)
