Lindsey, on June 11, 2017 at 6:03 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

Is anyone doing place card settings on their plates? we are having a piece of greenery on each plate but I wouldn't be sure what to even write on the card? they looked pretty however.

i saw it on pintrest but I wanted to see if anyone has done this or is planning to ?

* im not saying escort cards, they are more like "menu" cards or "welcome" cards. i put some images bellow *

Do you have a photo of what you found on Pinterest?

We did escort cards that were leaves, but they were not on the tables. (Except for ours.)

It seems like it would make it really time consuming for people who would have to look at every plate to find themselves?

I've seen this before, to direct people to tables. Once's they're there, they can pick a seat. You put their name and their table on the leaf. You arrange them alphabetically on the place card table.

Personally, I"m not a fan of really tricked up place cards (I'm probably using the terms interchangeably. I don't think anyone really pays much attention to them, and they should be as easy to make, find and use as possible.

Add to this the really bad decision that most venues make; putting the place cards at the entrance to the venue so there is always a giant bottleneck.

Yes, it looks like those are not place cards or escort cards, those are menus. You could always just put them on the plates/chargers/napkins. I think it's a nice touch and photographs beautifully.

Oh I see. You could have your photographer take an escort card or two and place them on the table setting for a few photographs to get the pretty photos but not have the fuss of placing them on each setting. Just be sure they put them back!

We have three languages going on . So I think the name and number is going to be easier. We are not doing seats just tables

Escort cards are essentially a seating chart but done alphabetically, so it's potentially easier to find your table. Regardless, having the greenery on the table is a nice touch and I like it!

The photos you've shown are not place cards. They are menu cards. A place card is someone's name which you've already indicated you won't be doing since you're doing a seating poster. So do you want menu cards or not?

It's pretty strange that you've bought cards because you think they'll look pretty but you have no idea what to write on the card.

    @emily. I haven't bought anything yet. . . I never said I did.

we are using greenery on the plates. def.

but the place cards/ welcome/ menu cards we were looking into; i have seen people but the menu, a welcome message and/or the timeframe of events, so I was looking into if anyone has done that

I numbered the tables and then had a seating chart up so people could see what table # they were at. Once they found the table, they could sit anywhere.

I have been to weddings with and without escort cards, but never actual place cards. Having escort cards is nice for your introverted guests who don't usually initiate mingling. The rare introverts who love to mingle and your extroverted guests probably won't care if there are even escort cards, let alone place cards.

On the other hand, place cards add to the "fancy factor" and fancy is fun for a lot of people.
