Dinner with the bride

Elizabeth, on February 6, 2021 at 1:24 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
We had my bridal shower last August before we had to postpone. A lot of immediate family, (out of state), could not make it. We decided to throw a small dinner party before the wedding since we aren't doing a rehearsal dinner, for those who couldn't go. So my conundrum is, since its not a shower, but its not a rehearsal dinner, what kind of theme should we go with for invitations? Do we give favors? Anyone else have any experience with thism

You can call it a “welcome party” ... you can do simple dessert favors like donuts or cupcakes or cookies but it’s not a must. As for the invitations/theme you can use whatever the runner up choices were for your wedding.

I agree with Rebelle — call it a welcome party or dinner. We had one the night before our wedding and, for favors, we did a “dessert bar” since my husband is a hobby baker. He made caramel cake, 7 up pound cake, pralines and cookies for the guests to take as favors — and there was nothing left. Lol!

Oh ... and for invitations for the welcome party/dinner, we used the theme “Eat, Drink and Almost Married.”

What is the purpose of the event? Who are you wanting to invite for what reason? If a shower and rehearsal are not feasible for some unknown reasons, just skip them with no replacement and invite these people to the ceremony/reception.

I like the idea of a welcome party/dinner.
