Direction Maps for invitation

Alondra, on October 12, 2011 at 2:32 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

Okay long story short, my family & friends do not need RSVP cards because

1) Not going through the hassle knowing they won't send them in

2) I don't have strict rules (example: Adults only reception)

But sending the invitation alone just seems so.. plain. I want to add a directions map card with my invites (which I'll make myself on Vistaprint) but before going through that hassle I want to ask you ladies, yay or nay?

    I think they would appreciate it, but some one lose it before the wedding. May want to have some at the ceremony for those who need a copy.

    Do you have your wedding website on your invitation? I put a general directions card as well as the wedding website if they wanted a more detailed map.

    And getting a bunch of Hispanics to return RSVP cards is like pulling teeth. I had to call a lot of my family members to find out if they were coming.

    @Elizabeth C, do you happen to have a picture of your directions card? Just get an idea.

    That is exactly my point. My family will not send in anything, they just show up to events. No matter how many RSVP cards I send or how many phone calls I make, nothing will change that. haha

    I don't have it on me (I'm at work) but I can scan it and post it for you when I get home.

    I included a directions card (ceremony/reception @ same venue too!) simply b/c I know not everyone has a GPS (ahem, Grandma!). But, for those that do, my venue is on a county road where most GPS's will take guests on a toll road. I wanted to be sure to let them know the non-toll road way if they have a rental car, or just don't want to pay the tolls.

    Even if this weren't the case, I'd include one so guests don't have to look it up on their own. Those that are from out-of-town won't be familiar with the roads and it'll be helpful to see directions from someone who is familiar with the roads in your town.

    I decided to have a plated dinner so I had to know who was coming. I made my parents contact their respective family members and remind them to send in their cards. I actually got them (late).

    I was the MOH at my cousin's wedding and when the time for the ceremony came there was like no one there! They all showed up late! We had to wait a half hour for people to show up. So I was like hell no this is not going down at my wedding. My hubby is white and I could just picture his side full and my side empty. The ceremony was supposed to start at 4pm so I put 3:30pm on the invitations ha ha ha.

    This was our map. We had directions from I-84. My DH basically said that no matter where you were coming from, get to I-84 and then take Route 9D from there.

    @Elizabeth C, thank you!

    @Shana R, that looks really nice. Since I don't know roads well (or at all really, I have a fear of driving on the highway) it's a good idea to get with my FH and ask him if the map I'm making is helpful.
