Dirty, Dirty Hands... Literally.

Jessica, on July 31, 2021 at 11:36 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

To all my fellow brides with significant others who do hard labor as their job. How did you/ are you preparing their hands for your wedding? My man works with all different kinds of elements and they're stained and just need a thorough cleaning. I know we will be taking a lot of pictures at the wedding so I want his hands to look good. Any and all advice is welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Jess

Good question, I used to work a labor job and yea sometimes that stuff gets ingrained and is difficult to get out.

This may or may not help depending how deep the staining is. My dad's hands were often stained and he used this stuff called "Orange" something by ZEP. It was meant for people that worked in oil and gas industry, mechanics etc. It was a thicker white "soap" that had pumice stuff in it. It smelled amazing and usually took off a lot of the stains. Then he would put a hand salve on by Watkins (not sure if you can get that in the US?). I'm thinking any sort of heavier scrub would help if he did it morning and night each day.

*DISCLAIMER-I do NOT have a hubby who works with his hands though! He's a librarian Smiley smile

Orange Goop. My dad uses it all the time. I just didn't know if some people had their significant other get a manicure or go to a spa place to get their hands looking good and healthy.

Orange is the best cleaning solution I've found. My husband works on his bicycles and motorcycles (and ruins 90% of his shorts with grease stains within 5 wearings), and that stuff works wonders getting chain grease, shock oil, brake fluid, etc off hands.

Wash two medium or long hair dogs week or less ahead. Gets out basic oils. Then use Q tip to wash tips and edges of longer nails to get out stains left. I do the rough farm work and dirty stuff, hubby a clean engineer. Dog washing, with hairs going oveand under nails is best.

I’d start using hand scrubs regularly until the wedding, and lotions, etc so the skin can soften up and the deep dirt slowly start being removed.

Maybe a manicure would help too.
