Hi ladies!

So, my gown came in a couple weeks ago. I'd been dreaming of it for months, but when I finally put it on, I was a little...heartbroken. Because I am plus sized, I had to order a, well, plus sized gown. The designer of my dress automatically adds coverage in the bust area for bigger sizes, which I had NO idea about when ordering. The bridal salon didn't know either, as they fit mostly "normal" size girls. They told me they will pay better attention to this issue in the future, but it is somewhat disappointing the amount of money we paid for the dress, that no one even thought to research this before. I fell in love with the gown partly because of the bust line. My weight carries in my stomach area, and not my bust, so I do not need this extra coverage and it actually looks super flappy and ridiculous on. Now, I know I have not had my alterations done and I have a ways yet to go, but I am nervous about the final outcome.

I am posting a picture (top left) of a random beautiful lady who needed the bust coverage in the gown, and I am on the top right when I had first tried on the sample (which is what I had envisioned coming in when I picked it up). The two bottom pictures are from when I tried on the gown with the added coverage. I have been assured by the salon that the bust can be cut back to how I want it, but I am very nervous, as it has boning in it. It feels like a completely different gown.

I guess I am just nervous the gown is going to come out completely different from how I pictured it when it was purchased. The flappy bits, etc, really give me anxiety. Does anyone have knowledge on dress "re-construction"? Can you actually cut boning? I am so nervous about this. I don't want to feel like a floppy bride.

I think the same appliques, size wise and in number are on both dresses, but they are spaced farther apart on your dress which is a larger size than the sample you tried on. It doesn't appear that HP adds additional appliques to larger size gowns.

I'm so sorry you're going through this!! You are not a "problem" bride, and you definitely should be speaking up for yourself/your parents. (It's sweet of you to want to send flowers. If I was the salon owner, I'd want to be sending you flowers!)

Your wedding is in September - everything will be fixed for you, and you're going to look stunning!!!

Hi there, thank you so much for the reply. I hope you know that my posting that was in no way insinuating that your friend looked anything less than gorgeous. I was just trying to show the discrepancy - it looks as though your friend is definitely bigger chested that I am so I get why she kept the coverage, but for me, having just full B's/small C cups, I just don't need it. When it is on me, I feel like I can fit a litter of puppies in there. I mean, if I was actually able to fit a litter of puppies in there I would totally do it and keep the coverage but sadly that's not the case, LOL. I was afraid she or someone she knew would see it, that's why I cut the photo down, I truly hope no one is offended. She looked beautiful.

Oh no don’t worry about that! I didn’t take it as you insulting her at all and either did she !!! I just was asking her why your dress and hers looked so different because I remember when she was looking for dresses she was telling me about all the extra money they had to spend to do customizations on hers and have all that added stuff, which is why it’s so confusing that even though you didn’t request it yours came. And I’m pretty sure she spent a decent amount bC if I remember correctly it came to upwards of 7k
