Got the dress! Now... how do I pick everything else out?

m, on November 17, 2014 at 10:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I bought my dress this weekend, complete with veil. The veil is 100% simple with no detail.

I feel like I'm going to need a necklace, but am also interested in flowers in my hair. My hair will be a low, side, loose bun/ponytail. If I did flowers, do I do a necklace? No flowers with the veil?

My ears aren't pierced so no earring options!

Shoes I figure just some platform, white wedges. The wedding will be all on grass, but I'm 5'0 and my fiance is 6'3. I need SOME height!

I think you should look at the theme/style/ formality of your wedding and decide on things based on that. For a necklace, you can never go wrong with pearls. For flowers in your hair, you might want to buy a flower or a fake flower and see how it looks with your dress/veil or ask your hairstylist who is doing your hair the day of. Sometimes flowers are too much with a veil as well, but it really depends on the style of the veil an the style of your wedding and hairstyle.

It's a ranch wedding, probably on the much more casual side, but large! 300 on the invite list. Pearls are definitely too formal Smiley smile Might just stop at Michael's the next time I'm in the city and get some fake flowers to experiment with.

If you will be waling on grass, consider a colored shoe.

We were married in a garden. If I'd worn white/ivory shoes they would have, very quickly, been "tan"

Good call, maybe go with a gold and call any dirt that latches on "rustic finishing".

I think a flower would be really pretty with maybe a flower of one of your wedding colors? As a necklace maybe something simple like a silver chain with some kind of charm or something. Your dress is gorgeous btw Smiley smile

Pearls are never too formal Smiley smile

I do think gold accessories would look great with your dress though.

Thanks all! They're too formal for a girl who spends most of her time behind a gun, bow, or trap!

Gold might work nicely, the bodice is actually a champagne with white lace, to make the lace pop. You can see it slightly better in this photo.

Gorgeous dress! I think you can still do a simple "light" necklace if you decide to do flowers in your hair with the veil.

With your veil, you could have the crown flowers on top of your veil. This one photo has a simple necklace with a flower veil.

I absolutely love the colors and delicacy of those flower crowns! The only reason I'm avoiding them, is every picture I see of brides who do them & isn't a professional, posed photo, ends up looking a little stations-of-the-cross-like. Especially when the crown catches a shadow! That necklace in the first one is perfection, though.
